  1. My advice is to get your embarkation port 2 days beforehand to get over jet lag and experience that city.

In Rome, we used Rome Cabs and they were excellent.

In Naples, we did an excursion that went to Pompeii and Capri. Capri is gorgeous.

The Epic usually stops in Cannes not Nice. You can take an excursion to Nice from Cannes.

Or, You could just walk around Cannes. https://travel.sygic.com/en/map/cannes-printable-tourist-map-city:408

  2. We have a 2 pm flight back to the US the day of disembarkation in Barcelona. It's been 8 years since I cruised the Med from Barcelona, and I don't recall any details about getting home. (Think I blocked that part out, because I wanted to stay!)

Should we self disembark? Hire a car service or take a taxi? My husband has mild travel anxiety, so we need to be at the airport the recommended 3 hours ahead. It's just he and I, with luggage we will be able to handle without too much trouble. The more I am able to plan ahead, the less anxiety he will have. So all info and advice is welcomed!

I’m taking the Epic from Barcelona as well. I have schedule a car for 9:30 just to go to the airport and check in ( our flight isn’t until 4pm). Figure get that part taken care of and then head back out for lunch and a little light sightseeing before our flight.

  3. Quick question. If the ship indicates that it is scheduled to arrive in the port at 6am what is the earliest that we could disembark to catch the train to Rome. Trying to plan the most time in Rome.

I’m taking the Epic next week and have planned a Colosseum tour in Rome at 8:45 so hoping we can be off by 6:30ish so we can be on the train by 7

  4. I was on the 7/8 sailing out of Barcelona and booked the 7:30 tender ticket (7:30 is the earliest tender) right after I boarded on Sunday. The actual day in Cannes, I was in line with several people that boarded in Rome that did not have the early tender tickets, but they were told by shore ex staff to go down early and go “stand by”. Everyone that was waiting near me got on the early tender.

I was gold on this sailing (hit platinum on the last night) but found it easier to book a ticket since I was able to do so. You can book the tickets through iConcierge or your TV in the cabin.

Do you believe that to be applicable to everyone or just Gold and up? Meaning is everyone able to book when they board on Sunday? I’m on the Epic next Sunday and have an 8:30 excursion booked through Viator for Cannes.
