I have a minor variation on these questions: we are also sailing out of Le Havre Aug 28, and are having a tough time figuring out how to get to Le Havre a couple of days early (want to do an excursion to the Normandy Beaches from LeHavre) without it costing more than $500 per person for transportation from CDG to LeHavre. My TA says that Princess only provides transportation from their precruise hotel, and it is sold out. I am now thinking we cancel our Normandy trip, stay in a hotel near CDG, go to CDG on the 28th and leave with others who will be flying in the morning of the cruise departure. She says that the transfer people must have a plane reservation for that day. we want to come in early because we don't want to risk missing the plane for unforeseen issues here in MN. My question is what's the most economical way to get from CDG to Le Havre?

P.S. We are taking a Princess coach from Montparnasse train station in Paris on the day we depart, this is different from the pre-cruise hotel package and private car to the ship. I believe it costs $114 per person. The train would be cheaper, but since it's the day we are departing I prefer to take their coach service because of luggage and making it easy on ourselves. Princess does offer a transfer from Paris to the ship, but it's on the day of departure. You seem to be wanting to spend your pre-cruise days in LeHavre, so I'd suggest the train.

I believe if you google 'Train from Charles DeGaulle airport to LeHavre, France./ you'll see prices start at 26 Euros...so it's much cheaper by train. Especially if you are not rushing to check in at the ship. If you can't catch the train at the airport, you can easily catch it from Montparnessse Train Station in Paris. Very inexpensive to LeHavre.

  3. Thank You,

Hopefully, they will come up with a hotel package for pre cruise. If not, then I will make the reservations myself. Do you know of any good hotels in Paris? And, what are the details of the Princess transfer from Paris to Le Havre, i.e. price and pickup location.

    Once again, many thanks.

Hello Hondo...I've been researching the same thing and have had no luck, as Princess doesn't have a contract with any hotel in Paris. Which make me wonder if they ever will because it's already less than 120 days to 2019. We are traveling in May, 2019. I recently visited Paris and loved staying the Germain district which is a ten minute walk to Notre Dame and the Seine...everything is close. There are several great hotels there. We are staying at Victoire & Germain. This hotel is also very near the train station at Montparnasse. So if no hotel is booked by Princess, I'll take a taxi with a fixed rate (@ 65 Euros) to my hotel and a short taxi to the train station for a transfer. This would be easy enough, but I do like the idea of being picked up at CGD taken to my hotel and then picked up at the hotel and taken to the ship. Please everyone share any info.
  4. DH normally means Dear Husband/Darling Husband ... whatever it's your husband.

We seldom order from room service but I have occasionally for breakfast and the "Princess McMuffin" arrived very warm.

It means "Designated Hitter" in my mind so I was stumped! Too much baseball!
  5. We too get breakfast room service most mornings on the ship, especially when headed off early for an excursion. We order double coffee, DH likes their sweet rolls, I get a yogurt or two, and some fresh fruit. That will last us until lunch wherever. Nothing like breakfast and coffee on the balcony.
Jo Roy, I've been a broken record, but do you recall if they have a hot egg and bacon mufffin? Are you referring to a Princess Cruise, not sure what DH is? Thanks!
  6. The only thing with eggs on the menu is the bacon, eggs and cheese muffin. Other egg dishes are only for passengers in full suites.
Thanks Paul...that will do most of the time. If time allows I'll go to the dining room, but my wife and I in the morning are usually harried...especially night owl me!
  7. You are correct it is not a Hot BF. Continental BF items and Coffee only. If you want Eggs/Bacon etc... just go to the buffet and get what you want....:) Continental BF items are just a placeholder, until we get the dining room...;)

(BTW...I think another CL offers hot BF, but my experience has been that it was lukewarm at best)..

    Thanks!
  8. There is a hang tag you can put on your door in the evening for room service breakfast in the morning. Many people add on things and most (but not all) seem to be accommodated. Please note that putting a "4" next so something like scrambled eggs or bacon does not get 4 of the item. It gets 4 orders of the item. Be careful. :)

Thanks as long as something with eggs is there we are happy! Thought it was only pastries and cereal. :)
  9. Just left Eurodam a few hours ago. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast in-room this morning. Next week, I will be on a Princess ship and will miss the hot breakfast.
So that is the question for me, does Princess cruise offer hot items for breakfast room service? This seems to be saying..no. Thanks!
  10. You can always just hang the Breakfast Placard on the cabin door (usually prior to 3-5am) for Continental BF items and Coffee. Delivered at the time you request (6:00am - 900am or so) . Much easier than going to the Lido and taking a tray back to the cabin.
I don't think it offers eggs and bacon/ham/sausage...just pastries. Please tell me I'm wrong. :)
  11. But you can also get an omelet in the dining room off the menu but the omelette station is located in the buffet area.

This is good info because I'm trying to figure out a plan for getting some eggs early and taking them to our room. A omelette section in the buffet area sounds perfect.
  12. On our last trip on the Breeze I would get up and go to the omelette station to get breakfast for my wife and I. I would cover each plate with another plate turned upside down and stack them on top of each other. Worked nicely. We left the plates in the room each time but I have read that you really need to leave it all in the hall. I've always thought that looked so tacky.

Is the omelette station in the main dining room or the buffet area?
  13. I'm looking to small group to share an excursion from the Crown Princess Tour docking in Invergordon that day. You can contact me here. This group can only have 6 more people. Let me know if you are interested. It's a full day Highlands tour with Invergordon Shore Excursions ....excellent reviews!

    Thanks,
