Adding to this topic and being a first time cruiser...  Family of 6 flying into Dubai and arriving about 4 hours before embarkation at 11:00pm.  We have pre-booked transportation from the airport to the cruise terminal and I understand that boarding closes about 90 minutes prior to leaving, how long does the boarding process usually take?  I've never been on a cruise ship before and I have no idea what to expect.

Boarding process  obviously depends on the amount of people being there at the same time. All in all the process is pretty smooth. Is time of embarkation really 11:00 pm? Thought that was departure time of the ship? Quite risky to my opinion arriving only 4 hours before that time. Any flight delay could cause being just in time!

When do you know the boarding times? I only cruise on March 16th, maybe one month before?

We will arrive to Dubai 3 days before and because we have been to similar ships as splendida we prefer to enjoy the city as much as possible rather than early boarding, but would love to see our boarding time to organize our day 😊

Just received tickets from our TA for the week before you, cruise that departs the 9th. Boarding time states 13:00. We'll be arriving in the cruise terminal somewhere between 7:30 and 8:00 am. Travel agent promises to get us on board as soon as possible (we're part of a group accompanied by tour leader). Hoping it's possible, no lust of hanging around in that terminal for 5 hours!

No problem in getting off and many did so. The muster drill was on at 8.30 which was inconvenient as I was watching the football in sports bar and the screens went blank and bar shut!!

8.30 would be great,  our flight arriving 6 am, so time to visit the city, muster drill in the afternoon would ruin the whole day.

What time where you able to embark?

I cannot see most passengers waiting until 5pm to board especially if they have landed on the early morning flight at c7am as many do.

Same here, arriving on the morning flight (6 am),  waiting until late afternoon for boarding would not be pleasant. And if so leaving your luggage at the terminal hopefully possible, could take a taxi to The Hard Rock Café,  visited everyone on our destinations so far where there is one...

I apologise if this has already been asked, but I could only find USA site info on drinks threads on here.

I havent purchased drinks packages yet for Seaview  next June , but I will do. In the ‘easy’ package does this cover drinks up to value of 6€? If so, does anyone have menus/lists of what these drinks actually are?

I’m thinking that basic cocktails probably will be above 6€ - any ideas?

I only drink fizz, red wine and cocktails! 🙈🙈

I also posted this in another thread,  a partial bar list on Preziosa in 2015. This would mean that almost everything on this list would be excluded for the new "easy package" since prices of coctails and mixed drinks (rum-coke) are all above 6 euros!

If possible try to book on the previous terms to be sure!

    Sidari,

Do you by any chance have old menus for the Dubai area? We have a Classic package and will be on Splendida in January.

Doing the same cruise in march. Also booked the allegrissimo (classic)  package of 26  euro p/day

Wondering which drinks are going to be included and how they will indicate this on the bar list

This is part of the bar list on Preziosa in 2015. Everything without an asterix was included then so this means everything on this list that's more than 6 euro's (almost everything!) is excluded of the new easy package which costs 3 euros more??

But CALL them. Do NOT rely upon the online policy summaries.

Insurance is definitely something where "the fine print" can really matter!

    GC

That's why we have all our insurance policys arranged by an insurance brooker.

They are specialized in that fine print.

We can always and i mean Always contact them in case of trouble or emergency.

They really would move heaven and earth to try to be of assistance

Don't know how common that is where you people live or are you mostly in direct contact with the company trough mail or phone

  8. I already inquired -- they dont allow you to upgrade. I am currently trying to decide to do the resturent pkg or the regualr one in addition to my 12 fantasitca vouchers

Those fantastica vouchers that i've seen mentioned on different threads, are they U.S. or Carribean sailing only?

Can't find anything related to the matter on their Belgian (Europe) site.

We're sailing the Middle East in march 2019. Anyone experience in that area concerning the matter?

Can they be used for premium drinks that are not included in the regular all inclusive package?

  9. Maybe it’s just me...

No it's not just you, feeling the same way, we too dress up on formal nights. I've been to various hotels where you don't enter the restaurant in shorts, period. It shouldn't be that difficult to enforce this on formal nights.

  10. Cruised once with Msc (Preziosa) before in the Mediterranean. Even on formal night there were man wearing shorts in the main dining room. What's the point of organising a formal night if everyone wears what they want?

Could depend on the staff? Or itinerary? I don't know but it takes away the atmosphere there is when everybody is dressed up.
