  1. Dress code is a major issue with me....and so i am just about to make myself very unpopular.

As a previous CC stated, as Brits "Country Club Casual" doesn't compute, so for us we put this into the same box as "Elegant casual".......FOR DINNER SERVICE !

So for me (male) this means, smart slacks (Smart Chino`s) and a long sleeve tailored shirt, not i am afraid a polo shirt or cargo pants and certainly no trainers or walking boots.

On a previous Oceania cruise i actually complained to a restaurant manager and they highlighted the dress code on an additional day, asking for people to adhere, as it leaves the staff feeling very uncomfortable to refuse admission.

You see, my view is that if jeans, polo shirts and trainers was acceptable, then i could have flown very light with no more than a rucksack......but i adhered to Oceania`s dress code and flew with two suitcases!

Once again apologies if i have offended!

  2. Hi there.....we must have departed Civitavecchia at least 7 - 8 times on various cruise lines and i have to say that there arent really any quality hotels there. As a previous cc stated, stay in Rome and get a car into the port -it is Bellissimo!

  3. Eliana.....I believe that if your cruise was actually cancelled by Regent, then they will only refund the cash amount paid and obviously not the FCC.

As an example, so i was booked on Splendor for last July which was cancelled. I then rebooked Splendor for the Caribbean for this month, which was also cancelled.

Now the thing is, the Caribbean cruise was cheaper than the Med and i had my own flights making the whole cruise a lot cheaper which gave me a massive FCC. However, i requested a cash refund which they had no problem with refunding the actual amount of cash i had originally paid for last July.

I actually booked this whilst on board a previous Regent cruise and the initial deposit was refunded back to my credit card within days. The Caribbean cruise was officially cancelled by them on December 2nd and i was told it would take 60 days to get my full refund.

So here`s the thing, Regent refunded my agent within 9 days, which i didnt know and wasnt told. I recieved my full cash refund by bank transfer last week!!

As a footnote and i have said this in previous posts, despite the vaccine rollouts, i cant see cruising in general getting started until midway through the autumn or maybe 2022 and the reality of that will definitely take its full toll on NCL and the cruise industry at large.

    Hi Rivercruisevirgin -

Did you get the original amount refunded?  We’re in a situation where we had a paid-in-full cruise cancelled by Regent in October, and before choosing to do a “lift and shift” asked our TA if we could cancel and get a refund before the new final payment date.  Her email was clear that yes we could.  Based on that (and other answers that turned out to be false) we told her to go ahead with the new booking.  This past week we decided the new booking won’t work for us, and so we’ve asked for a refund - and the answer back is no.  Our TA apparently just found that in doing the lift and shift Regent converted our amount to FCC, and now Regent is not budging on a refund.  Never have had to deal with getting incorrect answers from a TA before, and wondering if her email is sufficient for Regent to honor what she told us.

Hi there johng75370.........I spoke to my TA early this week and he confirmed after having spoken to Regent  that i would be refunded the full amount of cash paid for the original cruise and confirmed the actual amount.

In fact, i have already received the initial amount of deposit paid as i did this via an on-board booking a couple of years ago......he submitted my request on December 2nd, but of course Regent claim 60 days, however given receipt of the initial deposit, i feel confident.

    Anyway, good luck to you

  5. I am in total agreement with you Guerncruising.

I have requested a full refund for my February, Splendor cruise, as like you i have concerns over the viability of NCLH and the industry.

However, i did read in one of the NCLH financial reports in the Spring that they had additional investor support of around $3-4bn which FDR said could keep them going until October `21 even if no further cruises took place.

Once i have my money back (circa 60 days i guess), i will then decide later in the year once the vaccine situation has taken hold whether to book a Regent Cruise in 2022/ 2023, but i fear that as we know, there is no such thing as a free lunch, and it would appear that the 25% FCC`s are just being added on to the price of future cruises......but lets wait and see.

Personally, i really only want to cruise again when we are back to as near normal as possible, i certainly dont want to wear a mask to walk around the inside of the ship!!

  6. Absolutely Pcardad....i have an email confirming that.

Basically the Caribbean cruise was much cheaper than the Med cruise and i had also booked my flights independently.

My email states that i will be refunded the amount paid for the original cruise.

  7. My February Splendor Caribbean cruise was cancelled on Wednesday.

This was a rebooked cruise from July, which after rebooking the Caribbean (cheaper cruise) gave us a large FCC.

I have been told that i can have a refund of my original booking amount, which i shall now take and bank.

When cruising gets back to some normality (maybe next summer) i might consider looking to book in the future, but my overriding concern is the financial viability of these companies and indeed the industry.

  8. Booked on the Feb 5th cruise out of Miami and have been checking regularly.

This morning the entire cruise is Waitlisted.....As i have stated before on previous posts, we simply love Regent & Oceania however, February is far too early to think that this Brit could travel to Miami for this cruise (and it exceeds the 7 day rule out of the US).

We want to see the cruise industry, and NCLH continue and thrive, however, one of the big three cruise companies is sadly going to bite the dust.

  9. Seeing the news from Princess (No US cruises till November `21) and HAL (All suspended till Mar 31), makes me really worried about the future of cruise lines....full stop.

I have a Splendor Caribbean cruise booked for Feb 5th, which for a number of reasons is clearly not gonna happen.

First up, its out of Miami, its longer than 7 days, further, we are flying from the UK (cant do that at moment), wont be able to renew ESTA and finally at the moment it would appear from our government that if we are to enjoy a more relaxed Christmas (families getting together) then the downside "may" be a 25 day lockdown!!

Also, for some reason, i cant even get into my manage account detail and wouldn't allow me to make dining reservations when i could - Strange??

I absolutely love Regent Cruises (and Oceania, which i have a lifted & shifted cruise booked in summer 2022) and i have so much sympathy for them, the industry and all of the fantastic crew, but once my cruise in February is cancelled, i shall this time request a refund, because in my opinion, sadly out of all the big cruise line holding companies, somebody is going to bite the dust and it could well be NCLH.

  10. So here`s my question to those more expert than me (although i do have 67 cruises under my belt)

If the Splendor in February is going to be one of the first ships to sail how are they going to get around the 7 day limit (ours is 10 days).......or can they just change mine to 7 days??

A bit pointless for those of us flying across the pond and also i would have to change my flights booked independently.

Finally, its my opinion that with limited capacity on the early cruises, they will look to embark local (US) passengers rather than those especially from the UK (we are currently in lockdown and cant travel anyway)

    Any thoughts??

  11. We are booked on the Splendor for early next February from Miami around the Caribbean.

This was rebooked from a Med cruise that was due to take place in July and obviously suspended.

I have a view and even given the current situation, that this cruise will happen as one of the first ships Regent will want to get sailing is the Splendor, however, with reduced capacity( only 750 to start with) and restrictions on UK travellers, i believe that we will be bumped and the only passengers (quite rightly) will be from the U.S

    Do others share my view?
