I booked a Viking river cruise last August for October 2020. At that time I paid a $500 per person deposit with the balance due Dec 31 2018 ( due about 21 months before the cruise )! I just paid the balance off and I'm opting to skip the travel insurance so I have my fingers crossed that nothing will happen up until then. With so many other options out there, I will not cruise with them again because of this due date policy.

thanks for the replies. Going to 1 or maybe 2 of these places in Italy. Didn't realize we would be spending so much time on trains.

We will be taking a Viking Grand European cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. We plan on flying from the states to Paris, spend 3 or 4 days in France before taking the euro train to Amsterdam. Then post cruise plan on taking the euro train from Budapest to Italy, spending 2 days in each of Venice, Florence, and Rome before flying back to the states. What were your experiences taking trains pre and post cruise with arms full of luggage? I'm going in Oct 2020. I did get free airfare but I paid the $50 per person upgrade to have more flexibility for our flights. With this upgrade will I be able to fly into Paris and back from Rome when we want? Also any hotel recommendations in Paris and Italy?

I have a Viking river cruise on the Rhine on a longship booked in 2020. I'm in room 125 in the lowest level of the ship. I see that this room is the closest to the engine compartment. I'm a little concerned that I might hear the engine while sleeping. Has anybody had problems with the engine noises with rooms that are close to it?
