Just returned from fabulous Amawaterways trip on Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel.  Much appreciate this board especially notamermaid as we did not want a bus trip! Were lucky on Danube last year as 2 weeks after our sailing, river was not navigable.  Rhine was beautiful, full and flowing the entire way. Castles and villages on the gorge were amazing.   Even had to lower upper level things to get under one bridge near south.  Highly recommend excursions to Heidelberg (Ludwigshafen port), Rudesheim vineyard, Strasbourg and Riquewihr (Breisach port) for those who have opportunity.
