I think it's best to stay on board. I don't want to run the risk of catching it and ruining our cruise that's been canceled 4 times!
-
We're on QM2 in April from Ft. Lauderdale to Soton via NY. I had intended to book an excursion In NY but have now read that you need yet another Covid test to get off the ship! That's outrageous, we will only have been aboard for 3 days. What if you test positive!! They'll kick you off. We'll be spending the day on deck looking at the sights.

Took under an hour altho we were told it could take up to 24 hours.

We're on it from New York. I can't believe it'll happen but haven't quite got round to cancelling yet.
I'm spending half my life on the computer trying to get info about it.

Bostonjetset If you get the flights through Cunard they do refund the air fare if they cancel.

I'm really enjoying this.....

We're doing it 2 weeks after you. April 6th.

We disembark on 4/14 in Budapest so there's a weeks cruise between us but I'm sure the crew will still be broken in by the time its your turn!
-
Thanks for the reassurance about Dollars in Budapest. I wasnt sure if they'd accept them. Hopefully we wont have a problem with water levels, it seems ok at the moment.
Counting the days now!!

Look forward to meeting you Sparky! I wish we had booked time in Munich as I would have liked to see Neushwanstein castle. Can't believe that's the correct spelling but my phone doesn't know any better.

You get on as we get off. We have 2 nights in Budapest at the end of our cruise.
Hopefully we'll all have a great time.

When in April are you going? We are on the Monarch Princess on April 6th.

We're doing that one on April 6th and wonder just how cold it might be!

Sailed on Gate 1 in August! We were involved in the low water situation! The trip was fantastic even with bus rides to Bratislava and Budapest! Food was excellent, crew was superb. Provided a wonderful diner and night cruise in Budapest to compensate for our inability to sail into Budapest. These last minute events where handled within hours of the decision to remain in Vienna and executed perfectly
You will love your cruise
Enjoy
Dave
Thanks for the info. Can't wait!!

Glad to hear that! We're going with Gate 1 next April.

We're doing the Danube on the Monarch Princess next April. Really looking forward to it!
-
Thanks for the reassurance.
-
I do realise that. I just wondered how much of a problem it may be as compared to the low water situation at the moment.
-
Right. I read your post to my husband and he's actually agreed to skip lunch and follow your recommendations.!!
Thanks again for your great review.
-
Hmmm.. skipping the lunch is a good idea. I'd much prefer a lump of Sachertorte (sp?) and a coffee. . I'll have to work on my husband, he's one of these "if you've paid for it, you'd better eat it" types!

Actually, you pointing out the times ocean cruises miss ports is a valid point. It's happened to us more than once when you are at a tender only port and its too rough for the tenders. Also we missed Catalina Island once due to dense fog. So I do feel better about unexpected things happening on a river cruise. Hopefully we'll be ok.....
-
Thank you for putting my mind at rest.

I know this is premature but with all the low water problems currently on the Danube, I have a question regarding high water. We are going from Passau to Budapest via Bratislava next April and I wondered if anyone knows how many bridges that route involves? This will be our first river cruise and I'm getting a bit paranoid!
