  1. We did the ship swap yesterday. Travelmarvel handled it extremely well, gave us €25 each for lunch and even paid for us to use the rest rooms on the stop between Aschach and Nuremburg. The four-five hour coach trip was comfortable and we drive through some lovely countryside.

We had a lunch break in Nuremburg, a short city walk, then a bus trip around landmarks.

We arrived at our new (identical) sister ship around 5pm, our bags and key cards were in the cabin and we all just went straight to our cabins.

Thank you so much for posting Marjan . It is good to hear how Travelmarvel are handling the low river levels. Of course the River cruise companies cannot control the weather. It’s how they then handle the customers that counts. Travelmarvel seem to be doing well. Any tips for us embarking the ship you are leaving in Amsterdam would be appreciated.

  2. We boarded the Travelmarvel Jewel in Budapest today. Counted about 6-8 river cruise boats as we drove by. We are heading to Amsterdam, not sure how the river levels are beyond a Passau, I guess we will find out.

We are on the Travelmarvel Jewel leaving Amsterdam on September 17th.

I have been tracking the Jewel to see if she manages to get through with the low water levels. I would be really interested in how your trip goes. It seems as if there has been a lot of rain in the region. So fingers crossed.

Hope you have a fabulous trip and please keep us posted.

  3. Dollover, I wish I had seen your post about a year and half ago when I was researching the best time of year for a European river cruise. September was suggested as a good time to cruise. Hence we booked our trip of a lifetime with Travelmarvel to leave Amsterdam on September 17th. At least we are prepared for some of our journey to be on a bus. It is so disappointing though that the reason you book a river cruise is to travel , but not have to pack and unpack. We realise the weather is beyond anyone’s control and are keeping our fingers and toes crossed for some rain before we leave. I have been tracking the Travelmarvel boats and the only place they seem stuck is between Vienna and Budapest. Thank you to everyone posting and keeping us informed.
