Daughter’s experience included wine and beer at mealtimes. I asked her about other drink pricing and she said “we didn’t buy any separately so I’m not sure … I think not outrageous.”

    They are reasonably priced.

By any chance did they give any bags or back packs?  We usually take an extra but so many cruises have provided a logo bag of theirs, I don't want to have to pack a bag into a bag coming home.

Yes they will send you backpacks a couple weeks in advance of your cruise along with a very nice documents wallet.

@Enjoynit if you still have the text of your review, could you start a new thread and post it in this forum?  Many of us read the Cc Boards faithfully but the Reviews— not so much…

It is quite a long review with about a dozen photos so I think it would be best to leave it under reviews and allow folks to view it there, as this section is mainly for messages. I am happy to try to answer any questions you may have.

We booked through a travel agent so received backpacks with the agency’s name and logos on them.

We just did a cruise on the EA and they sent us very nice back packs about 2 weeks prior, along with a larger oversize wallet for cruise documents.

I’m doing the Italy, France and Corsica in a balcony room on 29th July.

I’ve been looking for reviews also without any luck so far.  I’ll certainly post after the cruise but look forward to hearing of other experiences in the meantime.

I just posted a review, should show up by tomorrow. Yours sounds like a wonderful itinerary. I am sure you will love it! Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

AnnYM,  we are originally from Central Jersey.  Wondering what you thought of each port of call?  We’ve been to Dubrovnik and Kotor, but not Albania.  Also have been to Corfu, Kefalonia and Athens. We absolutely loved Kefalonia!  Have never been to Parma and Itea (Delphi).  Our choosing this cruise was based on seeing these new places.  Did you enjoy your ports of call?

Thanks so much for the "dress code" info!  My bet is that the guys wear long pants and a nice shirt (no tie, no jacket, no shorts).  Let us know if this is the case.   (I'm guessing I can wear my shorts for lunch.)  Thanks so, so much!  Ron

It's very casual, no real dress code for the dining room. You could even wear shorts to dinner if you want although most folks seem to wear smart casual. There is no dress up night, a big relief for us to just be able to wear comfortable clothes. Don't bring any ties, suit jackets or fancy dresses, you won't use them.

Dressing levels vary but most try to appear nice (but not too formal). I brought a washable dress and a skirt to be able to allow for variations. I also wore a pair of “proper” stretch jeans (I.e., no holes or fraying) and nice top once with a pair of sandals. Although there were a couple of women in flashy clothes, comfort appears to be the primary guiding factor for most.

I think you can be very casual on this cruise. We mostly wore shorts and even for dinner we did not get dressed up, just smart casual. But still if you wanted to wear shorts and a tank, no one would have said anything.

  9. Hi, yes, we just completed a cruise on the Emerald Azzurra from Athens to the Greek islands, a couple of ports in Turkey, and back to Athens. I just wrote a very comprehensive review of it, but it may be about 24 hours before it is published. So check again tomorrow. If you have any questions, let me know. I had a hard time finding any information prior to my cruise so I tried to be very detailed in my review. Look for my review to show up in the next 24 hrs.

  10. Thank you GMT, we will be returning on a Sunday so hopefully two hours to get to the airport in Munich will be enough, and we will make sure we arrive at least two hours ahead of flight time. Our flight is 10:15 so I wanted to try to leave the ship at 6 or 6:15. My question was more about what time we are able to get off the ship, i.e. do they actually let people off as early as 6 a.m.? And will they have their transportation ready to go at 6 or 6:15 a.m., because we had pruchased a transfer through Gate 1 and I didn't know if they would do transfers that early in the morning.

  11. Hi, we are Don & Erica (docandbabe) and are sailing on the Monarch Empress on May 13, 2018 out of Budapest on the Danube to Vilshofen, DE. Anyone else sailing on this date???

Hi We are cruising on the Monarch Empress this September 15th and as this is our first River Cruise, we had a couple of questions.

    1) What time do the tours start in the morning, or how early should we be up and ready?

    2) Is there a tour offered by Gate 1 in Budapest, which is our departure city?

    3) What time can you board the ship on the day of cruise departure?

    4) When the ship arrives in Vilshofen, how early can you get off the ship to leave for the airport? We have a flight leaving at 10:15 from Munich and wondered if we will be able to use the transfer service we bought from Gate 1 or if we will have to leave extra early and find our own transportation. Thinking we will need to leave around 6 a.m. to be at the airport two hours before the flight takes off. Is it possible to get the transfer that early?

Thank you so much and any other thoughts you want to share about this trip will be much appreciated as there is little info about it.
