  1. We have been on a cruise with Princess an loved it. The Medallion App is fab! Unfortunately because my wife is a teacher, we are restricted and no dates available for when we want to go and booked Iona.

    So yesterday I decided to phone them to get clarification about their claim that nearly every drink is included in the package. I phoned dead on 8.30 when they open,went through the menu and chose already booked option only to be told they were too busy and would not answer. Retailed and chose book a new cruises, surprise surprise answered almost immediately. Another nail in the coffin, happy to get you booked but no after service. Anyway explained my situation and asked fo the to email me the drinks menu so that I could check the claim that nearly all the drinks are included. Refused to send it to me. Tipped over the edge now I told them I thought they were misleading people with their promotion. Operator went off to check with supervisor and after lengthy wait they agreed to refund my deposit.

    Have now booked on the Marella Discovery all inclusive premium, flights with extra space included, more ports, warmer climate in the med and CHEAPER than P&O even before adding drink. 

    Happy now but shame because I was looking forward to experiencing the Iona but the service level pre cruise has just left me thinking they don't care about the customer

  2. Thanks for all of the interesting posts and discussion. Really does look like the drinks package is poor value. This is really frustrating and I feel really cheated. One of the deciding factors when we booked this cruise was that they claimed that "nearly all the drinks are included" which is untrue and misleading promotional information and I still think this contravenes trading standards and I will pursue that. Although I have written to P&O three times now, the first nearly 4 weeks back, still not even the courtesy of a reply. I am going to go through the pain of waiting up to an hour to get through and phone them today and ask for a refund of my deposit as I believe they have knowingly made a misleading claim about their product.

    Having read comments about the time it takes to get served, queus and poor service on top of the drinks package issued his  has really put me off P&O

  3. Thanks everyone for the comments. I did do a Google search and found some menus that showed a lot of cocktails in the price range. Problem is that it seems that they put the prices up since then without making any adjustments to the package. It would seem they have done that to take them out of the range. My wife and I really do like our cocktails and like to pay for thr packages so that everything is hassle free. I probably would not have booked this cruise had I known that Nearly all the cocktails are not included rather than the claim in the advertising that nearly all the drinks are included. I am pretty sure that this contravenes consumer law as below from government website;

    The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations mean you cannot mislead or harass consumers by, for example:

    • including false or deceptive messages
    • leaving out important information
    • using aggressive sales techniques
  4. Booked on Iona in October drawn in by the "Ultimate drinks package"

    I have now emailed P&O twice to ask for clarification regarding their drinks package. They advertise this as "The Ultimate Drinks Package" 

    "Say ‘yes’ to an intriguing cocktail or simply sip your ‘usual’ as you drink in the magnificent views. With our generous Ultimate drinks package you can enjoy anything you fancy. Nearly every drink we serve is included for a fixed price per person, per day, and you can pay with on-board spending money"

    This seems to be far from the truth with the majority of cocktails excluded now because they have put the prices up and therefore out of the range and £6.95 limit. I totally understand that prices do go up but they should have adjusted the price of the package and threshold as well in order to meet their claim that nearly every drink is included. In my opinion the current advertising on their website may well contravene consumer standards especially as they do not publish a list of included and excluded drinks.

    I have asked them for this in my two emails sent over 2 weeks ago but not even had the courtesy of a reply. 

    Very poor P&O, really not looking forward to the cruise if this is going to be indicative of their customer service level

    I think this is down to semantics. In Ocean Ready there seem to be 5 steps 

    Number 1 on my app is labeled "Personal Information and Documents- Upload your travel and personal documents" 

    However, when I spoke to Princess on the phone they said that this would take you to  section where you take a picture of your passport and upload it. 

    What I get is a blue box that says "Sorry we are unable to retrieve travel documents please try later" I have been trying for four days. I uninstalled and reinstalled and checked all the permissions settings for the app but still no joy

    I'm using Samsung Galaxy S20 FE latest version of Android 11 OS

    Any help would be gratefully received!

     

  6. Trying to use the app on android devices but unable to upload documents 

    Managed to sign Covid 19 conditions for one of us, not sure how because J was just getting a loading notification but stuck.  Can't sign now for my wife.

    Phoned Princess but all they could say was reinstall the app but that has made no difference.
