Holy Roller, Scenic is promising to put a  compendium into each state room eventually with all the details and intricacies not only of the services on board and the items in the state room for maximum efficiency but also to address such things as the laundry equipment. The problem that I see is that whether or not the washing equipment is the Rolls-Royce of equipment, in the absence of some easy to follow explanations put up at the beginning when people need to use it rather than somewhere down the line in the course of the various itineraries needs to be addressed immediately and should not IMHO Sometime down the line. These things will all shake out eventually but sooner rather than later and the timing of it is so crucial.

R&R Cruiser,  There are some loungers on the 10th floor which are available for lying outside in the sun and the roof over the pool which is surrounded by some loungers on three of its four sides retracts in warmer weather.

In terms of live music there there is a duo that plays and sings during the cocktail hour and after dinner until around 11:30 in the large lobby lounge.  No DJ and no real dance floor.  If you opt to dance it is in a walkway.  This could change over time due to guest feedback.  We have seen a few, and I mean a FEW gents wearing sports jackets.blazers without ties for dinner but it is rare.  And we have not seen much in the way of cocktail attire.  The dress code is very relaxed as the information you receive with your travel documents stresses.  I did not bring a jacket for dinner and am glad I did not.  I would feel over dressed.  But it really is a matter of personal taste and luggage space!

Thank you R&M - appreciate the feedback!

  2. Hi Rocky&Moose, thank you for taking the time to post your comments, they are greatly appreciated. My wife and I are travelling next April in the warmer weather from Buenos Aires to Lisbon. Are there sun lounges for laying outdoors? Is there live music or a DJ of an evening to dance to? Also are people dressing up ie cocktail dresses, jackets for dinner? Thank you in advance. Ray & Roz

A few additional thoughts: connectivity on board is excellent. They provide you with a password and as far as internet connectivity goes it is far better than most but certainly not as fast as DSL at home.

There are USB slots at the desk and what each side of the bed.

In an effort to reduce paper waste, the daily program of events is only available in your state room on paper if you requested from guest services. Otherwise it appears on the ships interactive television screen which takes a bit of effort to navigate.

The artist renderings of the deluxe veranda state room shows a bench at the foot of the bed. There is no bench at the foot of the bed. The distance between the foot of the bed and the desk area makes it prohibitive to put a bench there.

Laundry service is available for a nominal charge. Pressing service is also available if you wash your clothes in the guest laundry and then just want the clothes ironed. There are no dry cleaning services on the ship.

  4. Good idea Carol.

I agree with all the above sentiments - let's hope this thread stays positive. My wife and I are booked on the 5 April 2020 cruise from Buenos Aires to Lisbon on the Scenic Eclipse - and are really looking forward to it!

  5. Thanks for posting Ricky. Unlike others I didn’t doubt they would achieve their August sail date. Scenic are a professional outfit that have been dealing with circumstances outside of their control. When things changed at the docks they reacted. When trips were cancelled, they refunded. I hope all the negative comments will cease now ......but I suspect they won’t.

  6. Personally I am totally over all the negative comments on this forum topic. I think it needs to be stated that sometimes even for the most diligent and considered people & companies things can go wrong that are out of our/their control. The real question is when this has happened have they compensated out of pocket expenses. Yes.  From what I can see in this forum they have repaid out of pocket expenses to those effected as well as offering discounts. I suspect some will continue to complain but I suspect that they likely complain about everything.
