  1. Something important to remember. Miami is in Eastern Time, the Eastern Caribbean ports are in Atlantic time zone. But the islands do NOT observe Daylight Savings Time. So when the US is in DST, then the time in the islands and Miami are the same. I find it more obnoxious when the ship changes to island time, going to island time and back in same week is a pain.

  2. Booking GoBest when we did we paid $472 for the two of us, this gave us onboard credit of $300, Unlimited Internet = $400, gratuities=$195, plus an upgrade of our alcohol package to premium=$210. So they total out at $1105 so somewhere there is free money in there. Our total cruise is $1350 per person yet we got $900 worth of perks making our cruise about $450 per person including insurance for a balcony. So there can be free money.

  3. We were fortunate enough to sail on AFC before they folded. The decision had been made to cancel service, but there were some sailings that still were made. My boys were 6 and 8 at the time, and couldn't of had a better time.

Since everyone knew that that the sailings were stopping, it gave us alot to talk about. The general conclusion was that there wasn't enough onboard income coming in. The casino was small, and some of the lounges had been converted to children's areas. With so many kids on board, there just wasn't enough alcohol drinkers and gamblers on board to help cover expenses.

AFC did offer kids cruise free on many of their sailings, and really reduced rates on others.

Disney has been able to make the concept work, but their pricing is higher to offset the issues.
