  1. Port side for the first 1 - 2 hours. The French Quarter will be on the Port side. While docked at the port, the Starboard side will be facing the city for most of the ships I see docked. I pass over the bridge - port area everyday of the week. After this point just some small communities and oil refineries as you head down the river. I from a town about 1 hour south of New Orleans, a small fishing town called Empire.

Here is a post with some information on what can be seen.

  2. Serenade of the Seas - Cabin 7596

When a band is playing or any event is happening at the R Bar on deck 4 your could easily hear it in the cabin. The cabin door is right across from the main fire door to the open area that goes from Deck 4 and up. They even have speakers on deck seven to boost the sound. We closed the fire door at night and still could hear the band playing. Most music stopped by mid-night.

One of the problems with our legal system (I'm from Canada, but apparently the US system is similarly afflicted) is that we have judges who are prone to operating their mouths without having their brains engaged.

Won't happen.  The economic effect on major cruise ports (Fort L, Miami, Seattle, San Diego, etc) would be devastating.

We call it the God complex. Most judges have it.

You will hear back, Internet is spotty there, but once he has time and wifi, he'll respond.

I'm  pretty sure he will tell you it is not worth it to book a tour for the second half day - that's what he told us.

Like I said, we have them 10AM  -  midnight on day 1, we will just poke around, get a coffee, maybe walk to the art market the second morning.

You could talk to your guide and ask for recommendations for day 2 for a few hours,, or just visit anything you are interested in that you either missed day  1,  or want to spend more time at.  Old town is right there as you leave the terminal, so once you get the lay of the land, it is easy and friendly to venture out on your own and explore

This will be my third trip, and there is still much I want to see, so you will not want for something to do.

They emailed back that it would be 130 CUC for 4 people with the tour starting at 8 and ending at 12 at the ship. We sail at 12:30. They usually do a 6 hour tour, but we don't have the time. "It includes transportation in a classic car and tour guide service. It is recommended to take extra money for lunch and also in case you want to buy rum, coffee, cigars, handcrafts etc.

Lots of discussion and reviews over on the Cuba board.

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/765-cuba/

I just sent them an email to see about a half day tour, since the ship leaves at 1pm on our 2nd day in Havana. We have an RCCL tour booked for the 1st day in Havana.

Hello going on Majesty of the Seas next week. We have a grand suite any concierge level there? Also does anyone have the cruise compass for this cruise leaving out of Ft Lauderdale four night key west havana cruise.

    Thank you

If you saved your Cruise Compass for each day, would you mind sharing them?

  8. Yes you can walk around on your own after your excursion.

Thanks for the info. We are looking to do our ships excursion tour which is a walking tour. Might see what tours are available once we get off the ship. Been reading up on the port on Trip Advisor and here on CC. Seems there are many tour options available outside of the ship tours.

  9. Ship - Triumph

    Deck - 9

    Stateroom # - 9236

    Stateroom Category – 4G Inside

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, except for people slamming other cabin doors.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

    Balcony View - N/A - Inside cabin

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Not in the cabin, but there were several water leaks into the hallway outside cabin. Large fans were blowing 24/7 trying to keep the area dry. Mold - mildew smell in the hallway.

Any other comments? - Good location and I would pick this cabin again.

  10. We just got off the Triumph and the slamming of cabin doors was the worst of any of our cruises. It seemed like they were seeing how hard they could slam their hallway door. It was the start of spring break, with a lot of drinking going on, so I'm sure this contributed to some of the noise. Poor old Triumph is in bad shape. We had water dripping in several places on deck 9, with large fans blowing to keep the old carpet dry. Had a bad odor of mold in the hallway. She just looks very aged everywhere. Still had fun, as it beat working.

  11. I use multiple sites to find flights going to my destination, such as Google Flights, Skiplagged, and each airline website. On a recent cruise leaving out San Juan, Air2Sea did not have the flight I wanted on their website. I called them and gave them the flight number, they looked it up and added to their system. I booked it over the phone with them and got a better price than what I was seeing online for other flights to San Juan.

  12. Liberty is to big for NOLA. Voyager class is the largest ship to ever berth there.

The larger ships could not make it under power lines that went over the river, just down river of the port passenger terminals. These power were removed a few years ago and there is no limit, other than the draft of the ship, as it makes its way up the river. Currently N.O. Port only has 2 operational passenger terminals. They list 5 terminals, but there is only 2, Erato and Julia. There has been talk of making a third down river of the French Quarter, but this was only talk, no work ever was started. There are many ship mooring sites along the river, but none are set up for passenger ships, bulk cargo only. A U.S. Custom's site would be needed, along with longshoreman to unload luggage. I see the Dream is still in Port, most likely leaving at 4pm.

What a mess for the people of Texas and these cruise ship passengers. Looks like every road heading to and from Galveston is under water. The next few days don't look to be any better. We know their pain, as we went through Hurricane Katrina south of New Orleans with a 20ft storm surge wiping away many communities along the southern Mississippi River. Then Hurricane Rita re-flooding many areas that had started to drain.
