We went on the Dream in January and our favorite part of the whole cruise were the Dive In Movies. We're more than likely booking another cruise for February, this time on the Imagination. I've seen conflicting info online, are there movies available (aside from on the in-room TVs) on the Imagination?

Bohemian Rhapsody has been on the list since we were on the Dream in January, so there's definitely some rollover.

Most contracts drafted by a corporation have a clause that indicates that they can change things at will. Don't know if this is true in Carnival's case.

We took the same upgrade, but on the Dream for our cruise next month! Looks like a pretty good cabin!

You pay at the time of order.

The pizza is now open 24/7. I have also seen that there are select snacks offered at the Lido buffet later at night, but I'm not sure if that's class specific or what kinds of snacks are offered.

My understanding is that ship's time is based off of the time zone you're embarking in, regardless of time of year.

My husband uses Untappd to log beers that he drinks. Has anyone had specific experience using this app with any of the wifi plans? We're thinking about purchasing a plan for our upcoming weeklong cruise and that's the only app either of us regularly uses that we weren't sure about! I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Knowing what activities the camp offers (even if other kids are lying to their parents about what they're doing) is still helpful? She can choose for herself what she actually wants to do.

Salt Lake City, but we (husband and I) both have family in Utah County!

I don't know about bringing one, but I read on the Carnival website that your room steward can get you an egg crate style foam bed pad, if you need it.

Applied 11/02/18 - received email 11/16 saying passport had been printed and should arrive around the 24th.

well low and behold I woke up this morning to an email from an agent telling me to call ASAP regarding an upgrade offer, and when I got ahold of him this afternoon he was able to upgrade me from my interior cabin to a 6B ocean view for only $50 total! 

 

I am thinking that they can’t offer you any upgrades until your completely checked in so make sure to get that done and don’t wait like me! 

We were offered and took an upgrade before we finished the check in process! (Still waiting for my passport to arrive)

I also really like You Must Remember This (film history), any of Jim Harold's podcasts (he has ones on True Crime, the paranormal, and ghost stories), I Don't Even Own a Television (two guys who read and react to bad books, including some bestsellers and "classics"), Pod Save America, and Lovett or Leave It (political- PSA is more news-y while LoLI is more of a comedic show)

I don't know about bringing your own from home, but for the frozen drinks, I know you can buy a larger reusable cup during the cruise and refill it for the price of a 12 ounce drink throughout the cruise.

The email implies that any one who paid before 12/1, regardless of when before that time, will be grandfathered in to the current prepaid gratuities.

If you have/will prepay your gratiuties before 12/1/18, you won’t have to pay more. 

From what I've seen, CC is working on getting pictures switched over from the old boards to the new, but they should all be up now!

No, it doesn't. They don't oversell cabins. What they are doing is calling people to try to get more money out of them. When they are done they will drop us in a room.They are very good at maximizing profits at every turn, and that's what they are doing now.

 

I can't wait to see where I end up in the shuffling!

FWIW, every thing I've seen searching the archives here ends up coming out in favor of the person doing a TBA. Sounds like you have the right attitude to be doing this!

Of course she should enjoy it - I am just suggesting that she should not be driving the ship, so to speak. Why should parents or grandparents have to stop what they are enjoying just because the child is bored?

 

My kids have been cruising for 12 years - the youngest in now 14 and the oldest 20. Never once has either of them had an issue where they needed to leave camp at a time that we had not arranged. When they were young they went form 9-12 every sea day and then we picked them up for lunch. They chose afterwards to return to camp, swim, play putt-putt etc. regardless, they were back in the room by 4/430 for quiet time and in the shower at 530 to be ready for 6 pm dinner. By 7 they were begging to be dropped at camp and thrilled to stay til 10. There is just no reason that they can’t plan and make choices for 3 hr blocks at a time - there is no need to be at her beck and call.

 

If you are really worried about it, stop by half way through and see if she wants to leave or stay. But the last thing I would do is give an 8 year old a cell phone that could be lost, taken, broken or fought over if she is playing games on it. Not a good mix with a bunch of 6-8 year olds that don’t have their own phones.

I agree that you don't need to be at her beck and call, I just don't see an issue with allowing her to be able to say she's had enough. It's a good teachable moment for kids that what they want does matter and their wishes are important, but I work with kids in a learning environment, so I see even the smallest things like that.

At 8, I am not sure they allow them to have phones in camp. At that age the child should be a 2nd or 3rd grader. This is a great time to teach some decision making skills. There is a program handed out at the beginning of the week that details all the times and activities for the week. Have her specify what she wants to participate in and set a return time. It is highly unlikely that she would get bored or be unhappy, and if she is, truly, so what? Don’t we want to raise our children to deal with negative emotions, boredom, frustration etc and not be one of those annoying kids that is so spoiled because they get their way every second of every day?

It's her vacation too, she should be able to enjoy it how she wants to.
