Casino reservations folks weren't helpful, ended up sending an email to the executive group (about this and other issues with the reservation) and they added it for me.

Would you mind sharing that email? I have a similar issue and the phone agents are not helpful.

As Dallasguy said, definitely go through the casino department ONLY for any changes to a casino comped cruise.

Interesting. This is the first I've heard of this. Can you link any threads that discuss this in detail? I bought Princess Premier after submitting payment for the casino rate and now I'm worried.

Majestic is the first princess ship I have encountered, which actually labels the dishes in the buffet as gluten-free. This is such a simple thing to do and saves both myself, and the chefs a great deal a bother.

I hope this becomes the new standard.

Are they labeling others allergens like dairy as well?

How is the WiFi speed on the Majestic in Alaska?

    I wouldn't be surprised.

Bringing it back to the topic at hand, I wonder what Carnival's reaction would be if Congress decided to make MJ legal.  Would they go, "Woo hoo!"  Would they breathe a sigh of relief?  Would they keep the same old rules?  Or would they clear some shelves and stock the newly legal merchandise in the gift shops?

    I highly doubt it.

    1. The smell is off putting to many cruisers, like cigarettes.

    2. Every foreign port would have to have legalized the substance, otherwise it would be trafficking.

    3. It creates a safety liability.

The bar tab deal is $300  for short cruises, $600 for 8 days or longer....I THINK 7 days gets $600 but I could be wrong on that.  Yeah, my cruise was going to cost me $642 more to get a $600 bar tab.....I passed.  That was the report from my First Mate

If you're a Sea-Rover, you should get an additional $200 on 7+ day cruises. According to the website, the bar tab promotion is guaranteed for 2 years

  6. I'm having a hard time finding a good photo or review of the xx106x balconies. Looking at deck plans, it appears they are significantly smaller:

However, I know these diagrams are usually just a reference.

Can anyone confirm the accuracy of this deck plan, and/or have a photo? I'd like a balcony that is open on two sides, but I won't choose it if it sacrifices significant space.

    Thanks!

  7. I'm looking to book my first cruise with VV, but I'd love some honest feedback first.

My DW has a dairy allergy. We've recently sailed with Princess and they did an amazing job accommodating her. Then we sailed with MSC and it was an absolute joke.

Between all the restaurants, are they all consistently knowledgeable about the ingredients and can offer alternatives?

    Thanks!

Would you mind explaining this rationale to me like I’m a 5 y/o?  What would be the reason for doing this?  Is it to get a cash out option on Nonrefundable obc or for something else?  Genuinely trying to learn. We have a lot of obc on an upcoming cruise but most of it is refundable so I’m not too worried about using it all. The non refundable usually goes towards gratuities or other sundry items. What am I missing?  Ty.

I use the slots as an easy way to earn credit card rewards. The billing shows the cruise line, and if you use a credit card with bonus points for travel category spending, you can earn a lot on a cruise.

After the cruise, deposit the cash back into your bank and pay the credit card balance. Then use the miles to get to your next trip for practically nothing.

Yes, Seascape is a MSC for Me high technology vessel.

We will be on the inaugural run from Italy to NYC as well.

Note, the 07DEC event in NYC

What does the Seascape do after NYC? Does it deadhead to Miami, or is there a special cruise event between NYC and Miami?

It has been our experience (on NCL) that the first cruise in the US after repositioning from Europe is a charlie foxtrot....every...single...time...The coast guard inspection takes hours and the extra legwork for customs coupled with the boarding of new crew makes for a lot of the issues you experienced.  When we sailed on the NCL Epic after repositioning (also out of Canaveral) we received an e-mail from NCL indicating that our boarding time would be delayed until 3 PM and that we shouldn't show up early.  We ignored the e-mail and ran smack into the very lines described by the OP.  It took hours in the hot sun with no bathroom, water, or shade.  I will never again take a cruise that immediately follows a repositioning.  I blame in part the cruise line and the other part on how things are handled at the port itself.

We are on Meravilgia next month for a 4 nighter.  I hope I can report that things have settled down by then.  YC or not, nobody should have the kind of service described here!

I'm curious how the MSC Seascape will be handled. It sails Barcelona to NYC, but then repositions to Port Miami. I hope they have the inspections done prior to Port Miami for the 12/11 cruise.

  11. We had a wonderful photographer on a previous cruise this year. He had taken our pictures during our ultimate balcony dinner (amazing!) and on the gangway during port visits. We purchased some photos, but a lot were left behind.

On our last day, we wanted to submit a compliment sheet for him but we needed the correct spelling of his name. We sought him out at the photo kiosk and told him our intentions.

He was so delighted! He then handed us a bag and said we "forgot these". It had every photo we didn't purchase!

Obviously, they were going to be discarded since we purchased the ones we really wanted, so I don't think Princess lost money because of this. I guess the moral is kindness can go a long way.
