If you are asking to be dropped off at a spot other than near the cable cars where the tenders drop off that’s  unlikely.

we were on Infinity two weeks ago, The tenders at Santorini only drop off near the cable cars.

I worked for an airline manufacturing company for 38 years. I traveled the world for work. I once did 30 flights in 30 days.

This happened before covid. Our flight into Barcelona had to be aborted. There was an aircraft  taking off from our runway. When leaving Barcelona we sat on the tarmac for an hour and a half.  It was not an aircraft issue, flights were backed up.

I will avoid Barcelona airport at all cost.

There is absolutely no reason to avoid Barcelona airport.  We've arrived and departed there many times with no problems other than the usual stuff that can happen at any airport.  Barcelona airport to cruise port is an easy, relatively short taxi ride.

Ducks ... I worked a charity duck race for a few years and although we tried to corral all the ducks, some always went missing. And they wound up in bins around the area, which bothered me. I'd feel the same way about a lot of ducks on a ship. They'll wind up in the garbage.

    agree

With Royal rolling out the new mid third fixed dining time, has anyone had any luck switching over to it prior to the cruise? We sail June 6 on the liberty and would love to have that dining time as it suits us perfectly.  Thanks in advance

no such rollout.  More like an trial run on a couple ships

I am wondering the same thing.  I am traveling Venice St Lucia to Trieste and am considering going by train.  I have an option of a direct regional train that only has 2nd class seating or Italia rail that I can book premium or 1st class, but this one has a change of train.  We also will have 2 large suite cases and 1 carryon.  Any info would be appreciated.

The regional trains usually have some space between the seats (the seats are back-to-back) where large suitcases will fit.  The smaller commuter trains such as the Bologna-Ravenna train do not have this space.

Finally, the A/C in the cabins appears to have been throttled back.  Even on the first and last nights of the cruise when the weather was still somewhat cool we could not cool down the cabin as much as we could in January.  Same at Roatan, which was hot/humid in January and didn't seem much different this time.  The kicker is that it was the exact same cabin (my wife has a disability and we have a favorite ADA cabin).

This is more than likely a problem with that particular cabin.

I was taught it is customary to tip at buffets in the US in addition to sit down venues.  10% for a buffet where they bring you drinks and pick up your dirty dishes for good service in US land based restaurants.

Buffet service is absolutely a tipped position in the US.  All buffet restaurant meals should be tipped at US restaurants.

So, if you cruise in the US, the expectation is ALL meals are tipped meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This is because tipping in the USA is completely out of control.

I was on a cruise last year or the year before and a group of folks had LAMINATED sheets that said something to the effect of "table reserved for so-and-so game group" that they would put on Lido tables when they decided they wanted to play Uno or whatever stupid game they played.

these sheets would have immediately been in the nearest trash can if we were looking for a table.

YES THIS!!!! I was so vocal about RCCL's continued misleading advertising, I cannot believe they've not been sued by any one of the many folks who wake up in Venice to "get a cab" to the ship, only to find out its 3 hours away.  We heard so many nightmare stories last year.

Anybody who "wakes up in Venice to get a cab to the ship"?? Maybe they ought to look at a map once in awhile before traveling?

A few points to make here - I don't need an excuse. I'll let someone else pay my way.

I will flat out just tell you that each cruise (if it's a USD booking) we go and have them removed from the account. I don't even do it at the end of the cruise to try to get the "benefit" - just straight at the beginning or perhaps Day 2 to get it out of the way.

No shame and no guilt. If the cruise line can't pay a fair wage - it's not my job either. If the employees aren't being paid fairly, they will speak with their feet and if they don't that's okay too - I'm not going to lose sleep. Same reason I don't lose sleep when I buy cheap clothes, or an overpriced Apple product made in China with less than questionable labor sourcing.

Just because I spend x amount on the cruise doesn't mean I want to tip a certain percentage.

I always find these threads so amusing because they always devolve into some sort of lecture on ethics and morals. I'll be the first to say if not tipping makes me unethical or some sort of pariah, I'm happy to wear that label. After all, my username checks out.

    Totally agree!

There is a Consulate in the every country and you are required to present yourself there in person.

Not true, there are a number of countries that do not have U.S. consulates.

For air travel - even when the arriving country doesn't require a 6 month valid passport, the AIRLINE often does.

This is simply not true. Airlines enforce the country's rule.

    ROLF ??
    Good for you!

I’ll bet you remove the tips on the last night instead of the first.
Question: When you remove your gratuities do you make eye contact with the GR staff person or just mumble “ The service wasn’t up to our standards”.

    and again,  ROFL!
