  1. Be careful purchasing vanilla in Mexico.   Pure Mexican vanilla is wonderful but there are some sources made with Tonka beans not vanilla beans.  Tonka beans contain Coumarin which can be toxic to kidney and liver.  It is also the chemical  that Coumadin (a blood thinner) is derived from.  So just read labels carefully.

  2. Hello, I asked this in my cruise roll call but I know there are many knowledgeable folks here.
We’ve planned our excursions and have decided to do our own thing in Mazatlan.  One thing that I would like to do is purchase some vanilla (specifically beans and paste).  Do any of you who have done this itinerary before have any suggestions on where to purchase it?  Any suggestions for things to do/see in Mazatlan also appreciated!

  3. I can’t find answers on the RCI website and the travel agent is very responsive to questions so any help would be appreciated.  My husband uses a CPAP machine; when we cruised on a Princess in December (first cruise) our stateroom attendant provided us with an extension cord and offered distilled water for the machine.   In July we are on the Ovation out of Seattle so will be flying in So won’t be carrying distilled water.  I would like to know if we can make arrangements for an extension cord and distilled water.  I can’t find a place to request it on the cruise planner.   Although after watching some you tube videos and looking at pictures online of an Oceanview stateroom I think there may be an outlet beside the bed negating the need for an extension cord.    Thanks for any insight!

  4. We just got off of the Ruby 12/15.  There was breakfast/brunch and lunch served in DaVinci on sea days.   No lunch of course on port days.  I don’t recall what the patter said about breakfast.  Perhaps someone on board soon can check Princess Cravings on the Princess at Sea app as that seems to have the most current info?

  5. My husband and I will be on first cruise next month.  We are sailing on The Ruby for a 7 day Mexican Riviera Cruise.   I’ve been reading a lot here and on the Princess website.   (I feeling like there should be a class on embarkation day-Cruising for Newbies). I have a few questions about dining:

     1.  Am I correct in my understanding that since we registered for Anytime Dining, that is for the MDR and we would need to make a reservation for when we want to dine there?   Is that only for dinner or all meals?

    2. Do we need to make reservations for the buffet?

    3.   As far as what is included in the cruise this would be MDR, buffet, pizza, some choices at IC and Salty Dog and room services?

    4.  Are the menus for the MDR and buffet included in the Patter?

thank you so much in advance for taking the time to respond!
