  1. Going to be on Komodo Island on Dec 31 , 2018. The tour I wanted on my ship (Windstar Star Legend) is booked. I started a roll call thread for my trip but with it coming so soon, I have little hope. Not sure if other ships will be there at the same time and maybe we can still put together a tour?

    TiffanyW,

I have the same requirement for my business.  And when using an internet connection internationally, with limits based upon MBs rather than time, I have found a good alternative, especially related to email.  All of my mail only goes to my "always-on" desktop computer at my office.  I then use RemotePC to access my office computer.   Then I am not using bandwidth to pull mail and I am using only about 20% of the usual needed MBs to review what is there.  FYI: RemotePC is less than $100 a year.  I had GoToMyPC for years, but they priced themselves out of the market this year.  Hope this info helps.

This is a great tip! Thank you so much for sharing. I'll def do that.

  3. Just another perspective- I own my business and when I'm away for two weeks, I simply do not have the option to 100% unplug. I need to access email at some point in the day to make sure there are no emergencies. This line of work grants me the ability to take this kind of cruise. It's not stressful to me and it has rarely ruined a trip. For me, it's one of life's necessities and I'm glad to go online for 20 minutes a day to have the freedom to travel.

  4. Hi. My teenage daughter and I are doing something much more adventurous than we've ever done before-- we are taking an 11 day cruise throughout Indonesia leaving from Singapore on Windstar this Christmas. I have SO many questions. Any answers you guys can provide from experience would be greatly appreciated.

    1. For safety reasons, we booked excursions from Windstar for nearly every day. How much spending money is recommended per day? Do I get local currency in NYC (where we live) or somehow get it there?

    2. Is tipping practiced in Indonesia?

    3. I SEARCHED the internet and couldn't find one person who has done this cruise in the past. Is anyone out there!?!? ha ha. I would just love some feedback.

    4. Indonesia is a majority Muslim country. Should my daughter and I dress a certain way?

    5. There is so little information on most of the ports. Does any port stand out for good or bad reasons?

    6. Cell phones!!! I kinda of need to be somewhat reachable for work... email, etc. Should I rely on the ship's wifi? Or buy a SIM card for my phone? Do I buy it at the airport or in the country?

Thanks in advance for any answers. If there is something I didn't think to ask, please tell me! Any advice at all is welcomed and appreciated.
