We usually book an SZ guy. Abit cheaper than SS.  Due to the fact that there are very few SZs the odds are you will end up in an SS. We have always ended up in SS and currently on Grand Africa ended up in an SS. Midship. Deck 6. Which we prefer to deck 8. We are sandwiched between 2 decks of cabins,  very quiet  We have heard complaints about furniture being moved on 9. And we had actually more than once seen flooded cabins under the pool areas during storms

#1 the crew, covered pool, smaller ships, not many children, always a Catlholic Priest on board

Been on several cruises during tournament time, being a big fan of college basketball I always looked for them.  HAL actually covered the tournament pretty well but being out at sea games sometimes we're fading in and out and on most occasions the games were broadcast live and sometimes this was any time day or night depending where the ship was.  

Yes, if I remember correctly.it was Mr and Mrs name of the ship.  My wife was once chosen to be Mrs Maasdam. And on another cruise when my son was about 10 or 12 years old he found Mrs Maasdam.  My wife was awarded a bottle of champagne and a large bag full of HAL logo items.  My son also received the same type of prize but also got a kiss on stage from one of the cruise staff girls about 10 years older than him that he had a secret crush on for the entire cruise.  This brings back some great memories.

It's all listed on my invoice from. my TA  cruise fare, port charges taxes, paid gratuities, shipboard credit free internet, free liquor setup 1free excursion, dinner seating etc.  But I did not book thru HAL

We have been booked on the 2022 South America\Antarctica Grand Voyage and the 2023 Grand World Voyage.  Does this mean that I will doing both voyages simultaneously in 2023?

Several years ago one of the prizes was a blue sweatshirt with HOLLAND AMErICA LINE. Printer on the back.   Whenever she wears it she is mistaken for a crew member!

My guess is no.  The world cruise is not that big of a moneymaker for them, as us old timers don't spend that much on board. Also we tend to gravitate towards private tours.  By 10pm the ship is deserted.  They do much better with the younger crowds on the shorter cruise s who party half the night and take lots of ship rxcursions

Or maybe because they had been beaten down so much the first half of the week!

Hamish is definitely a fabulous cruise director.  He was o. The 2020 world cruise from which we were evicted due to covic.  Only problem was he wears such a sstrong cologne that many people seemed to.be allergic to.  Our all time favorite cruise director goes back a out 10 of more years ago.  His name is Mike Conningham(sic)  He was the funniest and most personable cruise director ever.  We were lucky to cruise with him several times before he was moved to corporate

Our favorite Prinsendam followed by Massdam, Statendam, Ryndam and Amsterdam.  All gone now.  Never sailed on Volendam but will be sailing on her next Jan 22 Grand S.A. And Antarctica.

Next they will be limiting the number of chickens that roam around town

We booked this cruise yesterday just as soon as we heard it was open for booking.  This has been one of our favorite HAL cruises.  This will be our fourth time we will be doing it.  We had done this three times on the Prinsendam over the years.  Also hit Antarctica. In February of this year on the 2020 World cruise on the Amsterdam.  We absolutely love the Antarctica experience.

Finally got all four of ours.  Came in good condition except for one bag badly stained with something and very dirty. Contents in fine condition, nothing broken. Chocolates. Look a little whupped, tasted one kind of borderline ok!

We usually loosely pack 4. Suitcases and ship them.  This way we have room. for some of the gifts we get.  Also quite a few items are consumed on  board creating more space for the return trip. We don't buy many souvenirs but we have plenty of room for the stuff we do buy.  We than each carry a small travel bag each for the trip home

Finally as of yesterday two of our bags are traveling home together. Due to arrive tomorrow. As of this morning a 3rd bag left Fla. with no delivery date yet and five minutes ago our last bag was released and scheduled to be delivered Monday. We now have all fall and winter to go through them.  Might even wait until Christmas morning to open them.
