  1. We were in Cozumel and I bought a gorgeous emerald bracelet from "Joyeria Millenium". They had to add a piece to it and when they brought it back there was so much commotion I didn't examine the bracelet again. When I got home I had it appraised and it was worthless!! I called my bank immediately and they did a courtesy of reverse funds and I had to have an appraisal to them in 10 days to make it permanent..I did. Not a fun experience!!!!

  2. Took this tour in August 2009 and highly recommend it. The ramp to board was a little steep, but the crew took a can-do attitude and got my (large) partner in a Pride Maxima on board zip-zip. The tour is delightful, and w/c users are up close and personal in the front row. The crew is prepared to take out seats in the front row to make room for as many wheeled conveyances as necessary. There is a w/c accessible bathroom (which we did not check out, sorry). Have fun!

Without a doubt this excursion was one of the best we have ever taken!!!!!!! It was on the Aleutian Ballard, which was the boat used in the second season of the World's deadliest catch....The whole crew was awesome! Lots of bald eagles, fish, crab and a lot of them we could hold! Nancie

  3. Hi Recently back from Cozumel and it is VERY accessible. If you come in to the dock that is 3 miles from the main part of town, the taxi stand has a lift van. Also, the sidewalks are wide and most of the stores have a ramp to get into them. We were amazed how nice it is, we were there just after the horrible hurricane and the city was in RUINS!!!~! They have poured in millions and what a nice job! You will NOT have any trouble getting off the ship. Bon Voyage! Nancie

  4. Back to cruise information.

I just found out that the Santuary charges $10.00 for half a day. I guess it still might be worth it to have a quiet retreat -especially on sea days.

I will not be getting off in any ports except Acapulco. We have reservations at La Perla and I have arranged to have a cab take us. We will have a nice dinner and watch the sunset and cliff divers.

We have spent a lot of time in Acapulco, I wouldn't eat where the Cliff Divers are. My suggestion is Su Casa, they have an elevator, it is an outside restaurant with a gorgeous view, insist on being in front! Nancie:cool:

  5. Many of the dogs I work with will go on to be placed as a seizure response dog. They can be trained to respond when their person has a seizure including speed dialing to 911. For some the dogs will go get medications, for some the dog can lie ontop of the person to keep safe during a seizure, for some it will be to go get the caretaker(ie mom or dad), etc

The exciting thing is that many of these dogs develop the ability to detect the seizure prior to onset. They can then be an early warning system. Perhaps warning that person to sit down, lie down, etc.

I love the story of Buddy, because it shows off the value of the service dog. Many people still think they are only for the blind.

I for one certainly did! I have learned so much reading this board and have fallen in love with all these magnificent animals! How do you teach them all these things, seizures, blood sugar drop, calling 911 etc.? It's juost amazing! Nancie

  6. Maybe someday I will get to have a SD, in the meatime, I enjoy all of yours and hearing all the stories!

I have a scooter, it's a Pride gogo elite and I just love it. I ride it to the plane door, they take it and give it back to me at the plane door after we land. It's wonderful on the cruise ship and any place I have to go. We also take my walker for the room and I think that's what the "cart" may be. You can hang and carry lots of stuff with it!

Check on line for all the different kinds of scooter that are available. There is one that folds like a stroller too.

There are lots of posts about them but be sure you try them out in person.

  7. Me too, I have neuropathy really bad. I broke my leg and had a Cage on it, 4 metal rings going around my leg and 16 pins going through it for 9 long months! :Neuropathy is worsed, I have to use a walker or scooter full time but what a blessing I don't have the CAGE on anymore. I love reading about your wonderful dogs, you are all so uplifting and makes me feel much much better. Thanks! Nancie:cool:

  8. I love reading your posts Roz, you have to be an amazing lady! Over the last few years I have become handicapped and last Oct. 31, 2007 I took a tumble in my garage and broke my leg. Simple, plate and screws and off to the rehab hospital where an occupational thereapist was teaching me to go from wheelchair to walker one legged and when I got up the chair whizzed out from under me and I slammed bad leg down to stop from falling out of the chair. She had NOT locked the wheelchair and then it was totally broken again and they put 4 huge metal rings around my leg and 16 pins and rods going through the leg. 9 months later, I just had it taken off, thank god and working myself backk to where I was. Now I'm looking forward to a 3 week cruise in November, that was the carrot my hubby held out for me to get better!! Worked for me. I have neuropathy in both feet and traveling up leg, CAGE didn't help. I look forward to everyday and love life, just like you! Enjoy the evening! Nancie:cool:

I'm exhausted from it all but so, so thankful that it's behind us now.

We're cruising in November and I wasn't so sure it was going to happen......but, the plans are going to remain the same and I'm looking forward to it more than ever!

I hug her a little harder, (if that's possible), and I look at her with different eyes now!!!!!!!!
