  1. Bring some familiar toys/games from home, but not too many. Buy a few new things and save them for difficult moments. Wrap them up.

    Bring a favorite sleep toy or blanket and familiar PJs.
    Don't forget some books, especially for the little one. Ones with flaps and other things that move and open are great for keeping them occupied.

    We're leaving in less than 2 weeks for a cruise on the Millie...we have a Fisher PRice 900mHz monitor https://www.evababygear.com/best-baby-monitors/ ...we've used it at bed n breakfasts & numerous hotels so we could swim in the pool while the baby slept (she is now 20 mos old). It has worked thru 2 floors of major hotels....any chance it would work on a cruise ship?

    Our cabin is almost directly below the pool (actually, right below the spa, but near the pool) and we were thinking about bringing it for the same reason...for afternoon naptime, we can go up one level and hang out at the pool while she sleeps.

    Anybody tried it before?

    Thanks!

    The monitor will probably (can't guarantee) work between cabins very close by. I just don't know how comfortable I'd feel leaving the baby alone in the cabin since crew can get in the cabin at will since they have keys (room steward, mini bar staff, etc.).
    When we traveled with my sister in law, she planned to take a walkie-talkie at least, but they're pretty worthless if you need to hear what's going on inside your cabin when your kid is too small to use it. Maybe you should hire a babysitter, as we did?

  3. We did Hurtigruten trip in Feb 2017 and trust me, if you want to make sure you don't waste your money take suitable clothing. It is much better to wear a number of thin layers than just a few thick ones. The air trapped in between thin layers warms to your body’s temperature and acts as valuable insulation.
    Not a cruise ship, but totally worth it.

    I apparently under pack. 🙂

    Flip Flops for pool (1 pair)

    Sneakers for working out (1 pair)

    Sandals for dinner at night (1 pair)

    I don't spend much time "getting ready" while I'm on a cruise.  There is too much to do.

    Me too 😄

    * flops for the pool
    * favorite heels for fancy evenings and parties
    * regular sandals for everything else
    * sneakers for excursions/island hoppings
    4 in total, but sandals are quite optional. Call me lazy, but I prefer minimalist wardrobe to separate outfits for each occasion.
