  1. Had a really lovely stay at Room Mate Gerard; beds were comfy, black out blinds, fantastic decor (if a little dark), loved the bathroom. Staff were very friendly in general and would definitely recommend staying in a Room Mate hotel.

We mostly walked or cycled places but there's a metro stop right round the corner, and you can pretty much walk in any direction and find somewhere good to eat or drink!

  2. that would depend on the season. Last spring I've looked up what beach tours there are, read feedback about each place and then me and my boyfriend went for a nice beach tour and you don't have to hire a tour guide to see the best of Barcelona. I've read posts like at https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g187497-Activities-c42-Barcelona_Catalonia.html https://vesping.com/blog/what-to-do-in-barcelona/barcelona-day-tours/beach-tour/ https://www.viator.com/Barcelona-attractions/Barceloneta-Beach/d562-a9852 and based on those chose some nice places for a walk like Port Vell,  the Olympic Port  and  Poble Nou with  Ciutadella Park

  3. I usually book three to four weeks before the actual trip so that we can et the room we want. Once I had a not so good experience when left booking for the last minute and the room wasn't what we expected since other rooms were either booked or occupied but we were staying their for two days and that was fine as long as the service was good (and thanks God phnr guys  did their best to treat each and every visitor like a king)
