Are you on margaritaville of the seas? If so, you must check to see if other ships are in port. It won't be open if no other ships are in port besides you.

Yes I am. How can I check that? We arrive on Thursday, 1/12/23.

Ours was about 5 years ago.  We bought the album, and the rights to ALL the photos, so the price was close to $1000.   Like I said, it was pricey, but  worth it.  To this day, the pictures are on our desks at work and the walls of our home.

From the link I already gave you:

Not sure how many photos you need, but it states it starts at $149.

They take a ton of shots, but you don't have to buy them all....

Great thank you so much for your help!!

We did a family photoshoot on Half Moon Key through the Dreams Studio (part of Pixels).

It was not cheap, but the photos are outstanding.

According to this link:  https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1153/~/pixels-photo-gallery-and-dreams-studio  you can make a reservation request ahead of time.

We made ours on the ship one evening a night or two before we were to arrive on the island.

Do you remember how much it was and how long ago. I’m sure prices went up

  4. It seems like no one has an exact answer but figured I’d try again! Does anyone know how much it would be to do an Engagement Shoot at Half Moon Cay? Carnival said they can’t tell me a price until we are on board but I would need to know a ballpark price to see if it’s even affordable. I would love the beautiful white sand and blue water in our photos!

Schedule a portrait appoint (dream studio - I think) on the cruise and they will give you options. I have seen them take people to the beach at ports and take pictures - The pictures seem gorgeous but are expensive. I believe this is what you are looking for. Good luck and congrats on the engagement.

    Awesome. Thank you!!

I can only think of a negative. Sorry,,, but if there are any ports missed due to winds or weather, HMC has to lead the bunch. It’s almost a 50/50 shot that you’ll get off the ship there.

    Just something to consider.

I mean we still wanted to go on a cruise anyway, so we’d figure out a plan B back at home if that turned out to be the case

  7. I am recently engaged and am booking a cruise that stops at HMC. My fiancé and I thought that would be a beautiful place to take our engagement photos for our Save the Date. Does anyone know if this is possible, how much and what is exactly included? I also would want to get my hair and makeup done but not sure if that would be possible because we’d get off the boat so early? Thanks!

  8. I sailed on both Magic and Horizon. Both are really excellent ships, but I would still choose Horizon. It is super new and they have the Sky Ride that my boyfriend and I LOVED. It's much bigger so expect more walking, but we loved everything about it.

We also had an amazing CD - Mike Pack who truly made our cruise so much fun. If he happens to be on your sailing date, I would hands down chose Horizon.

I don't have time to read your replies, and more than likely someone, or more than one have already answered your question.  As I'm sure they told you, there is a tip added for each day of the cruise on your bill.  I go to the Pursers, or Guest area, and get the tipping envelopes.  I then tip at the "end" of the cruise who I want to tip, with CASH!  This is not mandatory, but it is what I like to do. 🙂

Yep, all good here after the clarification of everything! Thanks!

Yeah, I hear that, but know that either you’ve prepaid the tips or you are going to have them added to your ship account at the end of the trip. And then any bar staff that you utilize will also be tipped automatically. The wait staff won’t feel like you are stiffing them if you don’t leave a nightly tip- remember you’ve either prepaid them or are going to pay the gratuities at the end of the week. We do like to throw the staff that we personally encounter- like our housekeeping/dining staff- a little extra money at the end of the week, if they were phenomenal. I’m talking $10-20 per person, because remember, you’ve already tipped.

Thanks! This thread has definitely helped us and we've done it all right so far! Better to be safe than sorry.

Attached is the breakdown of gratuities that was on my account summary from our Breeze Feb 15-22 2020 cruise.  IMHO, it is very low gratuities for the service we received.  Our female steward, Carmina, was fabulous.  Always smiling and asking about our day.  Yeah, she may have been "acting" for an additional gratuity but she also had a kind heart.   when she saw my kids struggling first night of the cruise to get there sea legs she brought them green apples and ginger ale (free of charge).  She had my heart after that.

The wait staff was so friendly and fun.  One day my daughter was wearing a Peru T-shirt from a school trip she took and all wait staff remembered her and would my say "My Rosie from Peru" whenever they saw her in the MDR.

Please keep in mind the workers are working hard on the ship and do much more than what you see on the guest decks.  One woman from the fun shop staff had an eleven yr old daughter that she will not see during her 6 month contract.  I can't imagine having that type of struggle that it is for the best to leave your family for that length of time.

Thanks for that! We're still new to cruising and have always had our gratuities posted on our final statement rather than pre-paying), but I just wanted to make sure every tip was included. We did't want to stifle anyone accidentally.

It depends on the rate code.  Some include price protection after PIF date, some don't.

Early saver does include price protection after PIF date.  Most others don't.

Even if yours does not qualify, you can always call back again and ask. You never know if they'll do it anyway, to be nice.  Asking is always free (just be polite, and don't get upset if they say no).

We booked under the military rate, so that's probably the reason. I'll definitely call back - won't hurt to try again 🙂

  13. I’m a picky eater but loved the food on the Magic when we sailed last May. If you’re a meat eater you’ll love the steaks in the MDR. Buffet was excellent as well.

For children, they’ll love the water slides and the sky course.
