  1. My sister is interested in getting married in Bermuda during Summer 2020. She wants to take a cruise to the island and get married somewhere on the island. If we don't book the ceremony through the boat, and the boat doesn't dock for any number of reason, we are taking a huge risk. If we book through NCL then they will just do the wedding on board, but she doesn't like the options they are giving her.  I am trying to find a wedding insurance company that will cover if the boat gets rerouted for any reason. Anyone use a particular company before? Thank you!

sonysita: Thank you so much for replying to this thread! We are having our embarkation day wedding on July 7th, 2018 and have (had?) Puneet Dadiala as our wedding coordinator too! I actually just sent her an email asking a question a few days ago, but got a standard notice saying she is out of office - we were not informed that she left the company! They will certainly be getting a phone call from us. I wish you the best of luck working with the new coordinator!

Getting the information has not been easy. We put down our deposit and received the contract and wedding package selection form at this point, but communicating our questions has been a nightmare. We were also not thrilled with the wording of the contract basically stating that if something happens to delay/prevent the sailing and wedding from happening (in the case of failure on their part or an "act of god"), we would still be liable to pay for the wedding regardless. We actually ended up purchasing outside wedding insurance to cover emergency situations such as that.

I didn't realize that they switched companies earlier this year. Unfortunately, some of the negative things I've read seems to still be holding true. Hoping that it gets easier as time moves along!

Hi! I am looking for an insurance company for my sister's upcoming wedding in Bermuda. What company did you use??

Hi there! I am also thinking of a beach wedding through the Norwegian Breakaway!

vkasza - have you chosen a wedding planner or made any plans yet?

green_eyed_lady - thanks for the great tips!

We are thinking of Aug/Sept 2015 since the cruise price drops significantly compared to June/July. We have never cruised NCL or been to Bermuda, so we are going to cruise on the Breakaway this May to check everything out and hopefully check out potential wedding ceremony resort(s) while there. We also would like to book through the island vs. NCL to save money. I still would like photos on the ship before the ceremony, so hopefully NCL could cover that and then we could get a photographer/videographer on the island.

We also would like to do the ceremony on the beach, followed by pictures and a cocktail reception with apps and music... followed by dinner back on the ship!

I appreciate any helpful suggestions, tips, insights, things to consider about a Bermuda wedding!!

Hi! How did your wedding work out!? My sister wants to take an NCL cruise to Bermuda and do the ceremony on the beach. She also wants to do reception/dinner somewhere on the island. What did you do?? THANKS!

Im starting to plan our wedding for May 2015. I'm trying to keep cost down too. We are also interested in getting married on Jobson cove. I have a few wedding planners in mind, a client of mine used Bermuda Bride and had a wonderful experience. She also said the had a little reception at the Bone Fish Grill, It is right near the pier, and it was very good, Better than they expected. So we might do that. They said it was hard to get everyone at one time in the specialty resturaunt for a dinner reception, but they had 34 people . Going through the cruise line is to expensive.

RC is having a bogo 1/2 off till the 15th I think. We saved a lot of money. For 2 people a inside room 1750. balcony 2500. I think the prices have went up.

    Good luck..... Tina

Hello! My sister is planning to cruise to Bermuda for her wedding in Summer of 2020. What did you end up doing for your wedding? How'd it go? Who did you end up using for a planner? Did you do the reception on the boat. Any advice is appreciated!!

  8. Ugh I know it is SO risky! I think looking into NCL and seeing what they would be able to provide for a backup plan(such as having it aboard the ship) is a good idea. If she doesn't like that idea then maybe she does need to look into an island that has more reliable whether. Cruising from Boston to Bermuda is so affordable that many of our family and friends will be able to come. Maybe it will be best to fly in all the VIP people(parents, grandparents, best man, MOH) so that even if the ship gets redirected, the wedding could still happen? I'll have to discuss with her and she what she's willing to compromise on.

Assuming everything works out fine with the cruising, has anyone been to or had a ceremony and reception on the beach in Bermuda? Is having a DJ and dance floor and dinner on the beach plausible? Or is ceremony on the beach and dinner and dancing at a restaurant/ resort more likely?

What is something that you wish you knew or thought of before your wedding in Bermuda? Advice that no one told you? Things you wish you did differently?

Thank you for all your advice!

  9. Hello all!

I am posting on behalf of my sister. She wants to get married in Bermuda on the beach in the summer of 2020. Her fiance proposed in Bermuda and he was also born there so it is a special place for them. We live in the Boston area, have a big family, and many of them already think that it is something that will be affordable and doable for them. We can't know for sure this far out, but there could be close to 50 people coming. She decided to do a cruise to Bermuda through Norwegian because it is more affordable than flying and staying at a resort. Our cousin is a travel agent and will take care of booking the trip for the whole family. It is important for her to have the ceremony on the beach and ideally the reception would also be on the beach. She wants a traditional reception. Cocktail hour, dinner, first dance, father daughter dance, cake cutting etc. The cruise is pushing her to do the ceremony on the beach and the reception on the boat. The problem with this is it doesn't seem possible to do the tradition reception activities on the boat. Just dinner (possibly with other cruise-goers) and then going to the nightly entertainment like everyone else. She is not too flexible with that and really wants a more private wedding like you would have in a hall at home.  I know it will be more costly than having NCL do the dinner since its already included. But it seems to be really important to her to have it private. So my question is, who out there has cruised to Bermuda and done ceremony and reception off of the boat? Any tips, ideas, tricks that you all have would be great. Also, what have you done in regards to insurance? Is there a wedding insurance company that you used? Or does the coordinator handle that? I have already learned that her first step is probably to talk with a couple wedding coordinator companies out there to get more of an idea what to expect. We are going to wait until after all the holiday chaos to really hit the planning stuff hard.

Thank you for any and all help you can give us!
