  1. Hi everyone

Can someone please recommend accommodation near the cruise ship terminal.  We fly in to Athens at 1am and our ship boards midday the next day so it just needs to be clean and comfortable.  Is Piraeus in a good area, or am I better staying in Athens and catching a taxi in the morning.  Thanks

  2. We were in Barcelona in May this year and did the hoho bus (Red & Blue line).  We caught the shuttle from the pier to where it drops off- shuttle cost $5 euro each way.  The Hoho bus leaves from the same spot so we waited about 5 minutes and got the Red Line. We got off at MNAC and walked down the fountain area to Montjuic fountain.  There is a stop at the top (MNAC museum ) and walked down the bottom to the right hand side- also there are public toilets just near the stop at the bottom.  We then took the Hoho to Placa Catalunya and walked down Las Ramblas- not once did we get approached by any hawkers or hustlers.  We then walked through the Gothic Quarter to the Cathedral, which was beautiful.  After that we walked to the Arc De Triomph and then through Parc de la Ciutadella.  Got back on the Hoho Blue (blue line) and stopped at Sangrada Familia.  The view from the top of the bus was amazing- it was also a great view of the Gaudi Buildings when we passed them.  We then got the Hoho bus back to the ship shuttle and got back onto the ship with at least 1 hour to spare - I have always booked trips through the ship but this one we did ourselves and it was so easy.  I think the HOHO cost us $30 euro each for the day.

We are going back in September (overnighting there this time) and will be doing the HOHO again (our daughter is coming this time and it's a nice easy relaxed way to see the city).

  3. Thanks Cruise Mom.  I must have missed those.  Looks like either option is going to be great.  Would have liked to get into Albergo Del Senato but it was fully booked.  I think that we will be happy really with either of these though.  And we wanted to spend time just walking around taking in Rome-my sons first time in Europe so he will get to experience it

  4. Correction from above...

    1. Hotel Navona

    2. Hotel Damaso

Sorry but availability just came up in Damaso, think I would rather spend the extra $1000 and buy gifts for everyone and this will pay for our food over the 2 days

Which would you recommend?  Damaso or Navona?  It seems that they are pretty close in reviews, I was more interested in if anyone had stayed at them and what they thought.

  6. So I have been finally been able to narrow it down to 3 hotels.  If anyone has stayed at these I would appreciate your feedback.

    1. Hotel Navona

    2. Hotel Artimide

    3.Hotel Abruzzi

Hotel Navona is the cheapest of these by $1000.  The other 2 are around the same price.  We need 2 rooms for our group so this seems to be the best that I can get.  Thanks everyone

  7. Thanks Cruise Mom.  Don't really want to stay in a guest house but just can't find any other hotels in the area.  I will keep trolling the area and see if I can find somewhere closer to the Panthenon. Otherwise it will have to be Hotel Navona.  Thanks

  8. Hi everyone.  Just gone through the 18 odd pages that are in here and no one has mentioned Relais Fontana De Trevi or Home in Rome Trevi.  Most accommodation has gone around the Panthenon.  I could find Hotel Navona with a room in May when I will be there but thought I'd ask if anyone knows of the the other hotels.  They look like they have good reviews on Tripadvisor.  We are a party of 4.  Thanks in advance
