We re docking in Yokohama. We prefer historic sites to shops and a 'general' view of the sights of Tokyo, hopefully.

As Ive said elsewhere, we are due to visit Japan on Diamond Princess in April.  The ship tours seem very dull.

i wonder if anyone has experience of booking their own tours ahead of time, especially in Tokyo and Yokohama?

Yes, Velvet, we would consider DIY but as our time is limited, and all the places unfamiliar, I was hoping that previous cruisers would have some specific suggestions.

Thats right, we are with Diamond Princess. Im surprised that the ship tours are so 

poor. Especially for Tokyo and Yokohama.

Can anyone suggest local tours, especially from Yokohama? Would there be a Hop on / off bus?

Im new to these boards. 

We are due to go on a cruise to Japan in April.  To our surprise, The ship tours are not inspiring, especially in Tokyo.

Can anyone give us the benefit of their experiience here? The custom trip advised by our travel agent cost £500.  Each!
