For all the people disputing charges, while it may help you get the money removed off the card and not earning interest, you also are creating more work for when the credit card company contacts RCCL and takes a person from processing refunds to figure out if it was a valid charge or not. I know it stinks/sucks waiting for your money to be refunded and it shouldn't be taking this long but you are only lengthening the process either for yourself or for others awaiting refunds.

It doesn't lengthen the process, the credit card refunds the money within days. At least mine does.

  2. We just got off the Serenade last Friday the 24th and internet for Diamond was ONE 24 consecutive hour period. Diamond Plus was 48 consecutive hours. Because the program was new the computer was not yet programed to accept the coupon loaded onto the sail pass so we had to purchase it and then go to the guest services desk to get the refund. We could break down the 48 hour benefit into two 24 hour periods as the 48 hour was not yet programmed into the computer. However they were in the process of installing it so I don't think future passengers will have the option of using 2 separate 24 hour periods. Many were upset with the "consecutive" only option especially as we were on a 13 night cruise. I saved my 2 days for the last 2 nights and my husband saved his for the 2 before that so we had 4 straight days of internet but only used about 4 hours total. I saw no option for a credit if we did not want to take advantage of the comp internet. At the time it was $59.99 for 2 days unlimited.

  3. We'll be flying into New Orleans on Apr 20 the day before our cruise in hopes of doing some sightseeing (and stuffing-faces with cajun cooking! YUM!) weighing the pros and cons of a rental car or some form of pbulic transport.

How far is the airport from the french quarter (where we'll be staying)?

Price of parking in the French Quarter?

Is there a shuttle/bus that goes from the airport to the french quarter or would we need to taxi?

If we taxi, how much would a taxi cost from the airport?

If we rent a car from the airport, are there car rental places near the french quarter to which we can return the car?

We're traveling with an infant and a 5yr old and LOTS of luggage (mostly mine).

From those who've been in a similar position before in NOLA what do you think is the best/least expensive option for us?

We have a car rented the day before the cruise from Hertz located at the airport for $29 and the drop-off is at the Convention Ctr right near to the pier. Parking at the hotel is $22 but it still beats the total taxi fares for both transportation from the airport one day and and to the pier the next day for the 3 of us and gives us a car to ride around in a bit to pick up last minute items for the cruise that we don't want to haul down there on the plane. We can still walk around the French Quarter but don't have to worry about finding a ride to the pier as we will drop off our luggage before returning the car and then take the short walk to the pier from the Hertz rental drop-off location. We found this very convenient as we would like to drive around and see some of Louisiana's beautiful estates away from the downtown area also.
