We do our additional tipping (servers in casino, room steward, we don’t eat MDR) all in cash. Hubby and I order a drink we give him 1.00. He definitely comes by often to check on us too. Lol
room steward 5-8.00 a day but all at end of cruise.

As you will see from my signature our favourite cruise line is Cunard, but we have sailed other lines including NCL Breakaway which we absolutely loved. Rightly or wrongly my impression of Carnival ships is of having a reputation for 'being a bit over the top' and I'd like to know if this refers to all cruises or just the shorter ones/itinerary? We're no party poopers and will join in with activities, but don't want it 'in our faces'. We also like quiet places during the day where we can simply read and just enjoy our surroundings.
Am I going to be disappointed or pleasantly surprised by your replies?
We are looking at a Panama Canal cruise on either the Legend or the Freedom : which would you suggest and why?
Thanks in advance.
We’re 48. Don’t drink etc. we LOVE cruising with carnival. Only 5 days and up though.
Yes, the 3-4 day cruises are literally booze cruises and seems everyone on the ship is 21.

customs does not care about a BC is does not have a picture and is not accepted as valid ID. Carnival accepts BC in addition to photo ID upon embarkation.
Customs was who asks for our BC. Not carnival.

I hear you and groceries/food is obviously priority #1 but from everything I read, they will eventually get ALL of their back pay.
Do you have a link that says otherwise?
If their cruise is in September, they have plenty of time before they have to pay it off. If the government is not reopened for several months, they have bigger issues to deal with than a cruise, imo.
Can you imagine the amount of taxes they’ll take out with that lump sum back pay?!? I shudder to think about it!

Protocol says they need to ensure that you are entering the country legally - CBP cannot know that you didn't somehow sneak onto the ship at one of the ports. CBP usually doesn't scan your ID when you arrive back in the US (never have for me, at least), so there is no electronic correlation to your docs used at embarkation. A (non-enhanced) DL does not establish citizenship, so you need a (US) BC to prove that.
Yeah, it is probably a close-to-zero percent chance that you are trying to sneak into the US illegally using a valid DL that you somehow acquired, but I can imagine scenarios where it is possible.
OH YEAH! I can see anyone trying anything these days!

Did they tell you all to meet or was there signage?
Ty for your help!

I would let them know so it’s one less thing for them to stress about.
Just get her log in info and make a payment.
Youre so sweet to do this!

Our last cruise was in October. All we have ever used is our DL and BC. Clearly, my name is different but what they look at is first name and dob and making sure your DL has the same DOB.
So, to answer your question. DL and BC is all you need.

When we cruise on Feb 10 we have priority tendering. This is the first time for us.
So they notify you in some one way or are you just left to wing it and figure it out on your own?

Ha!!! On our last cruise, every time I sat on our balcony I could smell the waft of pot. I was infuriated. I wondered how in the world you can't get on board with booze or extension cords, but marijuana? Somehow that gets through?? This has nothing to do with whether or not it's legalized. I don't want to smell cigarettes on my balcony either. I'm glad they're addressing it. But until they have drug dogs as you're boarding, it will easily continue to get on board...
We had drug dogs sniffing every where when we were in line to go thru customs upon boarding. That is in NOLA anyway.

We had to show BC and drivers license boarding and leaving our cruise.

We’re sailing on the Dream Feb 10th. Our boarding is 11:30. Same as it’s been before on other cruises. We sailed last October on Triumph and our boarding time was 11:30. We got there at 10:45 and we were on board atv11:00.
It is is very smooth in NOLA. Only port we sail out of. (We live 45 min from port).
I will say there was a group group of people in line ahead of us and she was furious that she couldn’t board when they got there. (9:30). She was told they’ll board a little earlier when everyone has been off the ship for one hour.
Doesnt really give you a time time frame I know, but IMO I wouldn’t get there before 10:30.
Happy sailing!

When we got off of our cruise in October I had already put our birth certificates in my purse (thankfully not my suitcase) We has our drivers license out but they made me get the birth certificates out.
I kinda thought, “ummm ok. You already had it when I board, my place and date of birth, parents and where I was born didn’t change in 5 days”. Lol
how did did it work out?
What is your favorite cruise "hack"?

If you’re driving to port you can carry on any normal sized fan. We take our wind tunnel. I feel like I can’t breathe without a fan. Lol The hey is you do have to carry it on.
Ps. I know this is an old post just thought I would share what we do. 🙂
