  1. You cannot Check my post on the Cozumel thread (It must have been removed for some reason!! - I just checked for it and it's not there) - we have been there many times and most ship tours are not very good value. There are many private operators and several have high ratings on the Cruise Critic and tripAdvisor web sites. It all depends on what you want to do while you are there. If you do your own arrangements, use your roll call to find two more couples to make the booking of an A/C van and driver for the day a reasonable cost for all - about $45 PP plus tip. AND..do include the Chocolate Factory in your tour - it's a family operation that is most interesting. OH - and plan on enjoying a Margarita at Coconuts!! (If you have not been to Coconuts, you have not been to Cozumel!!) JMHO - your mileage may vary!

  2. We have been cruising for many years, so now it is not so much about the ship (nearly all are good - just some are a bit better than others) but rather a choice of port, new places to visit during the cruise and cost / value. I would first pick the area of the world to see, then look at all of the ships and the sailings to make a decision. JMHO - your mileage may vary.

  3. We have been on many cruises on different ships of different companies.

We have 4 previous cruises with Carnival and this was our first on DREAM.

It is an understatemet to say this was the very BEST Carnival cruise we have experienced.

Yes, we are 'oldies' so the pools and hot tubs did not get our attention - but the folks doing so seemed to be having a good time. It is of importance to note that there are several hot tubs at different locations on the ship (2-aft on deck 10 and more port & starboard on deck 5), plus a mid-ship pool AND an aft pool PLUS the slides and kids pools forward - this does spread the crowd about the ship.

I have already submitted a CC review of our cruise - and I'll do the same for our two day-tours on Roatan and Cozumel - which were excellent.

Please take the time to share your views and perspectives on the Cruise Critic Reviews thread - it's the only way others can gain knowledge to plan their future cruises.

  4. I have NEVER been on a ship on many of the major (and some minor) cruise lines that did not accept cash - in the form of notes from almost any country in the world!! (The exchange rate may be a problem, but it's a cruise ship!!)

    So... US$ - Pounds - AU$ - EU's - Pesos - it's all good in the casino!!

(They will get your money in whatever form it may appear!!)

  5. On many of our past cruises on different cruise lines /ships, there are some 'tips' regarding special perks, passageways, doors to quiet places, and even secrets for the many bars on-board.

So...in a couple of weeks, we'll be on-board Dream for a week and it's a 'first' for us. Do you have any 'DREAM' secrets you wish to share?? Thanks!!

  6. OK - there are informative threads about special places, access to unusual places and how to enjoy a unique hapening that most other (non-Cruise Critic) PAX never see.

I know a few on the RCCL and Celebrity ships, but a search on the Carnival threads gets me zero!!

Are you willing to share your special Carnival ship secrets?

Perhaps there are other sips in addition to Dream (our next cruise).

    Post away!!

  7. The Azamara Quest cruise ship with almost 700 tourists from many countries came to Huatulico, Mexico today. Many of those on-board had tours scheduled to the interior local towns.

BUT..some folks with a grievance (I know not what was the grievance and pass no judgment in that regard) decided to close the road between Huatulco and the airport and towns beyond on the main road. And YES – we (Hey Tourista) were turned back at the road block!!

Also, the regular weekly Canada tourist flight (a plane load in and a plane load out) was disrupted!! Folks leaving were driven to the blockade and then had to walk to the other side of the protesters to get on another bus to get to the airport, while the arrivals had to do the same in reverse to get to their hotels!!

Tours were disrupted, folks that needed to get to the airport were in difficulty and folks arriving were not easily able to get to their hotels!

This is Truly a MAJOR blow to the tourist industry in Huatulco – AND…the Mexican Police did NOTHING to clear the road for traffic or for traffic to move - from at least 8 am until 4 PM!!!!

If you plan to visit this port – check ahead!!
