  1. Good info. Preparing for a trip coming up in Oct this year. I know that's still some ways off but I like to plan and research locations.

I was thinking about walking it but mapped from cruise port to Malecon area and it's about 2 miles or more, plus the pier. lol...I think $8 is fair.

Does anyone know much about the golf cart rentals? Price and ease of renting one. I will search the forum for info.

BTW my cruise partner is not a seafood fan (UGH .. ) I have to find places that have beef/chicken tacos or something .. that lives on land. We may hit up YAYA beach, still researching.

I'm still getting used to the cruising solo thing. Not loving it but I have no choice.   I enjoy chatting with people at the bar but so far have been sitting by myself at dinner.  Not a fan of eating with strangers but that's just me.  A lot of solo cruisers that I know just eat in the WJ but for now I'm good with the MDR.  Have the 3 night dining package for today's cruise.  Going to Jamies, 150 CP and Chops.

I have only been on 2 cruises and then the pandemic happened. The first time we had a fantastic group of gals (single mom and two daughters) that kept up entertained at the table. One daughter was crushing on my son. Some other table mates rarely showed up and when they did, they were friendly and had a teen grandson that spent most of the cruise looking for his lost hat.

Now during our second cruise, our table mates were some really interesting couple traveling with their daughter. It seems now that I think about it, we were travelling with our son and they purposely did that to get the teens to mingle and grouped us with other families with teens. Anyway, our second cruise table mates were always fighting and tipsy and though it should have been more embarrassing for them it was entertaining for us all. It seemed like we were all in that dysfunctional temporary cruise family .. LOL!

Breakfast on both cruises was a bit more fun, because we sat with people that really wanted to mingle it seems like and just positive conversation.

We cruise again in a few months (since pandemic) without my son, so it will be just the husband and I. I don't know if we will opt for sitting with others or request a booth to be alone. We will see how adventurous we feel at that time.

    Great review.

I liked leaving out of Galveston.  This was a great hotel, if anyone is wondering about staying there.  Lots of stuff to walk to and restaurants right across the driveway.  And gets you psyched for your cruise seeing the ship come in right in front of the hotel. 😍

Ha. Since taking a break from cruising these past couple of years, I went to Mexico a couple of times via airplane ✈️… packed planes and the resort pools were pretty busy. Thankfully no covid .. 🤣 .. so happy to see these pics!

  5. Thanks everyone for sharing your reviews and experiences with the Havana Cabanas. I booked a cabana deck 5 with the patio for my son's graduation in 2020 on Vista so it will be a family vacation with no privacy expected. lol. I have been seeing everyone's opinions about the privacy of the cabins with the roomy patios, and have stayed in a regular balcony room with the 35" sq foot patio and there really isn't much privacy when your up/down/side neighbors are outside all the time. The only thing is that only boats that pass by can perhaps see in your room if you always keep the shade open. We never keep our shade open even at hotels on the 35th floor. I look forward to making new friends with my cabana neighbors, instead of them just lurking around the balcony divider.

I am also looking forward to the private pool/hot tub area and think the time is great that it is restricted during certain hours and as well as the age restriction. Some of these cruise kids get wild in the regular pools that make it NOT fun for us that want to chillax. We basically couldn't use the regular pools at all during the day, because it was jammed packed. Anyway .. we usually spend the evenings at dinner or at comedy shows or exploring the ships activities. I noticed during our last cruise, the pools/hot tubs were dead after 8-9PM usually. Also, there's always the serenity spas to hang out in, at night if the havana pool does get crowded. It was also quiet in the evenings . . on most nights.

Again, hoping to continue to follow this post for more updates on the Havana area.
