I'm going to Dominican Republic at the end of April.  Cost for AI in a super nice resort in total is costing about the same as a cruise.  Much less stuff to do and not the same.  I'll take it though.

Dominican Republic looks good I’ve researched that too with all inclusive where there was evening entertainment ... yep not as much as cruising has entertainment wise would be good too. Enjoy

You posses no "right" to cruise ... or go to Disney, fly in a commercial jet, eat in a restaurant, hold a job or attend a public school. Choose to ignore public health directives, regulations or laws, and you sacrifice those privileges? OK, that is your choice - live with the consequences.

Honestly, Fox has done more to curdle America's common sense than heroin ever could.

If I conclude I don't like red lights and am entitled to "freedom of choice" about stopping, I can expect the traffic court judge to quickly straighten out my thinking. After paying a fine, I then have to

just so you are aware, my family and I have adhered to ALL the health legislations and rules since march 2020. I have wore my mask, I social distance and everything else and do not flout the regulations so please do not tell me I have no right to cruise or fly or go to restaurants just because I choose not to have the vaccination. THAT IS MY CHOICE and you choose to have the vaccine ... if that is what you want but the choice should not take away other options to enjoy life... so what should I do in your opinion...just stay in the house and do nothing at all ever again ?   ...wow I am absolutely amazed by your thoughts... but I have had my say in this so THE END

We will have to let the virus know that it has to be fair.

why is it when someone doesn't agree with something for them and they express their views ... it doesn't take long for people to make out they are selfish... I am not selfish person but I do believe I have the right to chose what I put in my body... and a vaccine that IMO has been rushed too quickly to be Able to determine its safety is not for me.. it takes years to determine side effects I was basically putting forward MY views on ME and MY FAMILY being able to decide whether we want the vaccination or not ... and our choice is not to and to just let the immune system do what it is supposed to.  I am not criticising or anything for people who want the vaccination as that is their choice but what I was saying is that if I make that choice and it is mandatory is does not seem right to me that we would have to get it to resume cruising but like I Said even though we would be sad to not cruise if that is what we would need to do then we would need to and we would seek out a different holiday for us

I laugh that everyone thinks this vaccine is the end all to be all.  Just like the flu shot!!!.  There are so many variations of this virus, just b/c you get it, does not mean you  will be protected, anymore than you are protected with the flu shot.  I will get the vaccine (even though I am totally against it) ONLY because I want to cruise again.  We have been traveling all over since June and neither one of us have had any issues at all.  In fact - until we go in March, when the stupid CDC has mandated we get a test to come back to the states, we have not even had a COVID test.  This will be the first for us.  But willing to put up with the CDC BS so we can continue to travel.  Just like we will put up with the requirement to get the Vaccine even though I don't think it will do anything more than a flu shot (which I have never had).  Unfortunately, we live in a stupid world right now, and the CDC wants to control everything.  So whether I like it or not, I will do what they mandate. We refuse to sit at home in a bubble and die.  We want to live, so will do what we have to so we can continue to travel.  I know I will get blasted because we don't live in fear, but I simply don't care anymore. I am totally over all this BS.  Get the country open and let people live again. My mother almost died last weekend of a stroke.  Thankfully, she will be fine.  But life is short - LIVE IT!

Yes we are the same ... we can’t continually live like this forever however I really don’t think it would be fair to made vaccine mandatory to be able to cruise because I don’t want to get the vaccine and won’t be so does that make it fair that I will never be able to cruise with my family again but if that what it means we will need to not go cruising ever again which I am very sad about cos we love cruising

I can't imagine cruising with this conditions in place. Keep in mind he is talking about RC but I can see this happening with every cruise line

Fully agree I posted already on RCI on CC that I would not be spending my hard earned cash on a cruise with these rules/ restrictions cos why do that as not a holiday. we are looking at other types of holidays if there are no restrictions however if there are restrictions we will just not bother with a holiday this year again. we loved cruising  and it is usually a cruise we go on and absolutely love it because of what is available ... and on a ship and although We will not be happy about not going a cruise but we just won't be if this is the case... our daughter loves to be in the pool all day during a cruise and to have limited pool time just won't work for us ... neither will  social distancing,  mask, vaccines and all the other rules so no thanks. So maybe cruising just won't be for us any more if we end up finding another type of holiday that suits us just like cruising did pre all the restrictions but we will most likely find other types of holidays will be a lot cheaper too... not that we mind paying for a cruise but will not be paying for these "cruise holidays".

Anyone who choses to go on the cruise with these restrictions though I truly hope you have a great time.

These are the new rules. It's up to you if you accept them or not. If the answer is not, then don't cruise.

yep fully aware these are new rules - "rules they are " what a word when we are talking about a holiday.  A holiday is supposed to be fun and relaxing and that is why I have stated that I will be looking for another type of holiday and not cruise for a long time  with rules when I go on holiday

Just more reasons to pick land based vacations and skip cruising for a very long time.

fully agree - why would anyone pay to do this. no enjoyment at all. I am currently looking to see what alternative holidays my family could do this year if we are allowed to fly/holiday without restrictions cos otherwise it is not a holiday in my opinion.

  8. Hi thanks for the advice however we have decided not to cruise this year as we had hoped there wouldn't be all the restrictions making it a totally different cruise experience  but I am now realistic to the fact this won't be the case ... which we are not interested in doing during our holiday - mask wearing, social distancing, covid vaccinations, no self serve buffet etc. it just won't be a holiday for us so I am sad to say we will be giving up cruising for a while.

  9. hi there

My husband wears pair of dress trousers and shorts sleeve shirt - no tie for formal nights and doesn't look out of place. the only time he was really dressed was our first cruise when he wore a kilt with ghilly shirt which was 16 years ago.  we travel light with only small case but still manage to pack a lot and enough for cruise. there are still people who dress really formal and then there are people who dress smart casual too

    enjoy your cruise

  10. My family and I have been on quite a number of cruises over the past years .. except last year of course

We have sailed many times with Royal Caribbean and once with Norwegian Cruise line - we loved both and had been looking at booking Norwegian cruise line again once they start sailing again this year in summer however the ship that suited where and when had the same entertainment as was before 2 years ago and I don't want the same shows etc

However I don't know a thing about MSC or other cruise lines so was hoping for some advice on what MSC are like and especially for teenagers as we have a teenage daughter and my husband and I like a lot of entertainment - shows and other stuff as well as good food with choice  of restaurants /bars etc with great service

I will of course be doing my own research with other cruise lines but wanted to get the opinion of others on here to help with my choice as there are a lot of choices

Also there needs to be things to do for our 15 year old teen daughter and a ship that would typically have a lot of teens on board for her to hang out with  in Summer 21 ... if cruising goes ahead.

oh I forgot we like a big ship more than smaller ones

thanks in advance for anyone who responds - appreciated

  11. Hi there

when we have travelled with our teen daughter she has went to the first night meet and greet for teens and I would definitely agree for your son to do this too as he will meet all other teens on board the ship. And generally after that our daughter used the teen club to meet up with her new friends but they would just wonder around the ship and do their own thing at night - go for pizza or snack etc as teens upwards not really much planned activities I don't think

during the day you will have the teen compass (can't remember what it is called) but you will get that in your room daily and it will show you what is on for them through the day

there is usually some fun activities but again they will probably meet with their friends from teen club at pool and hang out there

It is fun and our daughter loved getting the  freedom to wonder around the ship. but we still got her to check in with us regularly either coming to see us or on her phone

He will have a great time... if the ship sails

There will be scheduled activities for all the teens in his age group. On the first night, there will be a meet and greet for the teens. Insist that your grandson go to the meet and greet on the first night, that is when he will get a chance to meet new friends and make plans for what he'll want to do the rest of the week.

Um, it is being tested right now.  It also is using data and research from SARs from several years back.  I do think that countries will require it so I guess you won't cruise.  I will get the vaccine.   I think some need to do some actual research and quit regurgitating unsubstantiated crap they've heard.  I'll be in line as soon as it's available. I get the flu shot every year and I got the shingles shot this past year.  Even though I had a reaction to both shingles shots, it was nothing compared to the shingles.

yep i know it is being tested but my opinion is that noone would know side effects so my family and i chose not to get it

but i understand there will be loads that will do it

but again as i posted i dont think cruise lines will ask that it be mandatory anyway
