Agree with OP about the Sunshine. Even in calm seas it was a rough ride. It was also the most worn ship I've been on. For me, the Dream class has been the best!
-
On Sunshine, we stayed directly over the casino. There was constantly a faint smell of cigarettes and occasionally you could hear the music playing. Lesson learned there, but in general I'll never do Sunshine again as it was easily the most well worn out room/ship I've been on

Good to know! We are planning on sailing the Breeze in April 2021 (first Carnival cruise!) and will have DD12 with us. Does the chat on the app work pretty good?
I've only used it on the Breeze and yes it worked great! Well worth the extra $5 per device.

Here's my philosophy on FTTF. I usually only do 7-8 night cruises. It's not worth the expense to me to get on the ship maybe an hour earlier. I simply try to book the earliest boarding time.
-
Took my two teens on Breeze last July. They loved it. They were in the teen clubs a lot. Other than dinner and curfew time I didn't see them much on the ship. We had the chat feature on the Hub app so I could reach them anytime.

Had a cove balcony in July and I'm pretty sure there were no USB ports

Following, will be on same cruise on April 25th.

Just another one of the quirks of the Sunshine

This ship was originally the Triumph. It has an infamous history because of what was nicknamed the "poop cruise". If you never heard of it, look it up, it was totally crazy. Personally I wouldn't mind sailing on it, just because of its past.
Sunshine was formerly the Destiny. Triumph was a completely different ship.

I rarely write bad reviews. My wife and I are avid cruisers, and have loved Carnival for years. I just cant hold my tongue about this ship. We went the 1st week in January, and it was the worst cruise we have ever had. That being said, it was still a cruise and we made the best of it. This ship is just "wonky". Every area seems so jammed up that no matter where we went, it felt overcrowded. We have done almost every fantasy class ship, and we love them. Have also done the Pride and Vista, and never felt crowded. It's that crowded feeling that comes from to tight, not from to many people. Everything on that ship seems so close together. Example, we had an ocean suite, and in the bathroom the commode was angled and the front of it was literally 2 inches from the tub. You basically had to sit on it sideways... The atrium is terribly tight. The bar, the guest services, the computers, and the shore excursions were literally on top on each. The casino was super cramped. It was also the smokiest one I have ever been to. Even worse than Fremont in Vegas. The nicest area was the Red Frog Bar in the back of the ship. It was comfortable and spread out.(and great bartenders). Now the worst part of all, the ship was dirty. I mean everywhere we went. Public areas, public bathrooms were un-usable, sticky tables, and we never say a single worker cleaning. Usually you see them everywhere, constantly wiping and cleaning. We saw no one in 5 days. Also in our suite, lots of little things broken. Literal duct tape hold the corner of the bathroom mirror on. The closet door was rigged with a folded up funtimes and tape so it would hit the switch to turn the light off inside the cloet when door closed. Just a really bad experience.
Couldn't agree more. Was on Sunshine last April and everything felt small and overcrowded. Our stateroom was literally falling apart. Trim falling down and rust around the bathroom door. We enjoyed the cruise but we won't set foot on Sunshine again

We were on the Breeze in July and didn't have any trouble with mold or other allergens. Wish I could say the same about the crowds...
Totally agree with this, we were also on in July

Aren't you a ray of Sunshine! Every ship has it's issues, some more than others, but many people love the Sunshine.
Pat
I don't deny that the ship does have some good features. It is definitely unique. With the amount of people on the ship, the popular public spaces are too small. Serenity, comedy club and theater to name a few. We definitely enjoyed the cruise but we don't need to spend 8 days on the Sunshine again. In fact we're doing the same itinerary this April, but on the Magic.

I'm on it next February 2021 thanks now I'm really looking forward to it.lol.i guess it could be worse luckily it's only 5 days and we live 2 hours from Charleston.
Lol well the OP did ask for everything! It was still very enjoyable but just not our favorite cruise so far.

The Sunshine has been our least favorite ship. The layout is confusing, the ship rocked more than usual, and Serenity is nice but the pool level stays packed all day long. The pool itself was nothing more than a soup of everyone's sunblock. We enjoyed the cruise but there's zero desire to go back on the Sunshine again.

We'll be doing this in April on the carnival sanctioned excursion. Interested in the replies also.

We're also sailing April 25, 2nd time on the Magic.

Cruised on the Elation a few years ago in November and everything was fine. Now the Sunshine never stopped rocking even when the seas were calm.

Leaving April 25th on the Magic out of FLL

We were in 2294 last July. It's not under the galley, no noise, no poles, it was great!

I don't understand switching of similar ships either but Tampa also requires smaller ships to sail under the Skyway Bridge. Tampa is our homeport and I have little to no interest in sailing out of there after a few times of doing it.

They wont move him out of his age group. Been there, tried that with my two teens who wanted to be in the same club.
-
I take on protein powder and several other workout supplements as I still like to get my workouts in most mornings of the cruise
-
You're better off getting a massage at one of the resorts at the ports/beaches

I can agree about the Sunshine. It's the junkiest room we ever had and we've been on older shops like Paradise and Elation.
Carnival Sunshine should be put out to sea

My take on the Sunshine is this..
In my cruising experiences, this is the most worn ship I've been on. Our cabin had plenty of wear including the same bathroom door issues OP posted.
Even in calm seas, it was a rocky ride.
Funky layout.
Definitely the coolest serenity area on the fleet.
Did I enjoy my 8 day Eastern Caribbean cruise in 2019? Hell yes I did!
We all have choices and for me its a case of been there, done that.
