Thanks everyone

We're sailing on the Celebrity Solstice in August.   It says we stop at Ketchikan, Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, BC.  If anyone is familiar with these locations, do we actually get off the boat at Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier?   We're confused on that.

We did.  I reported it to the room steward.    I didn’t think about Security.  Next time I will call Guest relations.

I absolutely agree.  If you spot a smoker, Security is the appropriate group to be involved. Call guest services and request they come to your cabin.  Also remember if you see something, the camera on your phone is your friend.

I did tell the room stewards who went to the room and warned them.  They even called us to check and make sure we didn’t experience any more problems.  I was impressed by Celebrity.  However there were a few other rooms that we could smell smoke, so I notified the stewards again and they were taking action.

It was just annoying that people won’t listen to the rules.

We just got off the Celebrity Summit.  Gorgeous ship and very happy with the cruise but we had neighbors on the ship that were smoking on their balcony and it filled my room with smoke.  Then we smelled smoke in the hallway.  They make MANY announcements that smoking is not allowed.  Why do people refuse to listen?  Sorry but it was my only complaint about the cruise.  I’m really allergic to smoke.

Does anyone remember the good ole days when there was no technology aboard ships and if you wanted to know why someone was late you called their cabin?  Or if you wanted to communicate you left a voicemail message or a sticky note on their door.  When I was working and knew that as long as I was on the ship I was out of reach and not expected to check in and do my email every day in case there were problems I had to try to solve from thousands of miles away?

 

I am not picking on people - I myself am now so used to being connected that I go nuts when I don't purchase unlimited internet.  But I'll tell you one thing - cruises were ALOT more relaxing back then.  

I totally agree.  I am 100% OFF from work but having 4 teen and young adult kids on the ship with me, and elderly parents, I want to be able to keep track of who is where.  I’m hoping the app works for our cruise in 13 days

Thanks for the reply but we’ve been there before and there’s no way my mother can do all that walking.  I was hoping to find somewhere that was close to a restaurant or outher places that might not be so crowded.

We’re cruising next month to Bermuda to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary.  They are mid 70’s and my mom has some physical limitations.  We’re traveling with adults, teens and a 7 & 10 year old.  Trying to find one excursion we can all do together.  Most of the beach excursions say people with physical limitations shouldn’t do it.

***For a beach, we were hoping to find something for most of us to relax on the beach while the kids swim, but has a place to go inside out f the sun and heat for the others.

Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thank you.  We are fine with holding something private.  It’s just been a long time since we’ve all been together and figured this would be the best opportunity.

We just surprised my parents with a family cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding.  There will be 14 people total.  We called Celebrity and it would cost $3,000 to do a vow renewal, which is outrageous.  We already spent more than expected on the cruise.  My husband is an officiant, so we really don’t need anything from the cruise line.   Is there somewhere on the ship we could do something ourselves?  Would the ship be ok with that?  

Thanks.  Yes, I’ve cruised before a bunch of times and on the Summit before too.  With just my family we’ve managed before.  My kids are 25, 20, 18 and 14.  But this trip will have 14 of us, including my elderly parents (one who is handicapped), so I wanted to make sure we could stay in touch since she won’t be with us at all times.

Thanks.  I really don’t want that at all.  I’m looking forward to getting away from technology for a week and I don’t want my 4 teens using it either.  We just want to communicate with each other on the ship.

We will be on the Summit in July with a large group.  I know that Celebrity has an app that will allow you to do certain things, like text others on the ship, however it says it’s not available on the Summit.  Are there any other apps that will let us do this??  Or do we need walk-in Talkies?
