Alaska excursions are expensive no matter which line, especially compared to the Caribbean. I'd say that if you really want to "do" Alaska, spend less money on the ship and more on doing Alaska. Disney cruises are "inward" looking - what's happening on the ship, whereas on Princess cruises are "outward" looking to the glory of Alaska.

Is the scenery from the Disney ship far inferior to Princess?  Am I really missing out besides not seeng Glacier Bay?  The intinerary would be Dawes Glacier, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan on Disney.

Apart from Kids Club, are there any activities that the kids would find fun on the ship on Princess?  I actually don't mind the lack of Disney themed shows at night, but the kids do enjoy the tea parties, dance parties, crafts, etc.

    Thank you!

  2. Lol...I know this has been asked a few times.

However I am in a serious dilemma!  Cruising with my Mother and a 6 and 8 yr old and my husband.  We have done 3 Disney cruises as only cruise experiences and loved them.  However, I have researched and understand that Princess (or HAL, but I can only focus on one!) probably does Alaska better and for half the price.  But I am curious about whether it does Alaska better for us......

My kids do the kids club, but haven't gotten super into it.  I put them in for Remy and here and there and they enjoy it, but it's not a huge part of the trip.  My mom loves nature and wildlife, but apparently seeing Glacier National Park isn't huge on her list.  For our group excursions or ship sighting of bears, whales, seals, eagles, salmon is more exciting.  We all like good food!  Is there anything comparable to Remy on Princess?  If not,  how do the regular daily meals compare to Disney?  Is the service the same?  What are the balcony rooms like compared to the verandah rooms on Disney?  Is the balcony a good size?  Are the rooms more cramped - I found the Disney rooms very cramped, but supposedly they are good sized.   Are the excursions as smoothly run on Princess?  Is the nightly entertainment suitable and fun for kids?  Has anyone done the Frozen deck party on Disney?  Do either ship have park rangers come on board like HAL?  Thank you!!!

The difference in price is nice, but don't mind the Disney prices if Princess is not going to work as well for our family.   And that leads to another question...are you nickel and dimed more on Princess so that it doesn't end up that much cheaper?

I also like to choose our cabin as soon as it's available, and then watch prices (obsessively, I admit) until final payment.

So can you switch cruises if a sale happens on another ship?  Or do you mean "lock in" the sale price if your booked cruise happens to go on sale?  Sorry for these silly questions!

depends if you are picky as to what type of cabin and where it is, if you prefer 1 ship over the other, north or southbound and if you have flexible times and can drop and go...we like to plan as we like a certain type of cabin and sadly still work so we have to know ahead of time to make plans so we already have our June 2020 cruise booked to Alaska.  Also if you want to do a land tour with the cruise those book up quick I have heard...

That is good to know because I am just learning about the land and sea tours and pretty sure that is what I would like to do.

  5. Hi, I am thinking of a RC cruise on Adventures of the Seas with my girls.  My 7 yr old is about 46" and the 5 yr old 43".  So that rules out the big slides, but are there still some "thrill rides" they can do (they 7 yr old has done Space Mountain, etc at DW and turns her nose up at anything "babyish")?  Ice skating or rock climbing?  Are the shows at night age appropriate?  I know these ships are supposed to be super fun, but I am worried my kids are too young for the good stuff (and they are both very thrill seeking so will want to do whatever they can see!).

    Thank you!

  6. So there is no way to find out beforehand what is shown on the ship?

I have booked my plane tickets, but I have not booked the cruise yet (there is a RC cruise the next day as well).  Trying to determine if my husband and kids would like this one as I prefer the ports!

  7. Sorry if I am obnoxious, I really am trying to search!

Is there way to know the exact entertainment offered in the theatre  at night on a particular cruise?

Are there alcohol tastings besides wine?

    Thank you!

  8. If I had a flight that got into FLL at 10:40 am, would that leave me enough time to get on board?  What time does the ship stop boarding?

*I understand my flight could be delayed!  Just wondering if it's possible if I am willing to take the risk*

  9. Please help!  We have done 3 Disney cruises and now looking to try Princess  (Caribbean Princess) or RC Liberty of the Seas for a 7 night western caribbean cruise.  Is there enough to do for that age group on Princess?  What are the height restrictions for the slides and activities on RC - neither child is 48 inches.

Are the interior rooms similar?  That is all that is left on both!

    Are the kids clubs similar?

Any help is appreciated!  Thank you!
