  1. We had a hard shell suitcase cracked during debarkation on a cruise out of Tampa last year. We had somebody from Carnival fill out a damages form in the terminal before we left.

When I got home I emailed customer service (photos of the damage and the form filled out by the carnival staff member) and they mailed out a cheque to cover the cost of a replacement.

It was a bit of messing around, but surprisingly not a terrible process.

  2. We ordered some items from the continental breakfast menu on the Miracle in March.  WORST idea ever.  The food was all dried out and inedible - a croissant that couldn't be bitten into and ramekins of jam and cream cheese that were crusted over and dry.  The only thing that we managed to eat were the bananas.  We avoided it for the rest of the cruise.

  3. I don't have experience with the Vista, but sailed on the Miracle in March with my husband who has celiac disease.  Although we had filled out the special diet form prior to cruising and had letter from the chef waiting for us in our stateroom the staff wasn't prepared for us on the first night in MDR.  It was a rocky first evening service, but every night after that was wonderful.  The dining room staff would give my husband the next night's menu at the end of every meal so he could order and they accomodated every single request he made.

The GF pizza on lido was a hit, and the staff there seemed to be knowledgeable and took special precautions to avoid cross contamination.  The deli staff was not as knowledgeable so that was avoided completely because there was a very high chance he'd get "glutened".

At the Sweet Spot on Lido they would provide dishes of mousses and crustless mousse-type cakes if you asked for something gluten free.  He never received the same thing twice and was never given an option, but was happy to have something sweet during the day.

There was no Guy's on board, but the staff at the Grill did provide gluten free hamburger buns (but would avoid toasting them due to cross contamination issues).  We don't have any experience with Blue Iguana either, sorry.

Angry Orchard was available at all the bars, and gluten free liquors for mixed drinks were plentiful, so you should be fine there.

    Enjoy! 🙂

With the latest update do the bedside lamps have USB ports now?  Or is there still only one outlet on the desk?

My room on the Miracle in March just had the one desk outlet, and the older style lamps

  5. Thanks for the review!

I ran into a similar issue on the Miracle travelling with my husband who is gluten free - the MDR is the best place for him to eat but I struggled with a lot of the food quality.  He thought it was great since he isn't used to waitstaff/restaurants catering to his dietary restrictions and usually just "makes do", whereas the staff on board provided wonderful service and choices to him.
I'm very interested in booking a Havana area room for our next cruise

    🙂

  6. This isn't going to answer your question, but I thought I'd offer what I know since you haven't been able to get a response from someone who knows for sure.
I sailed the Miracle at the end of March and stayed in 5133 (so, regular balcony, but right on the edge where the extended balconies start)
I know this room isn't DIRECTLY over the main theatre, so isn't a true example, but we didn't hear a thing in the room.  We didn't spend any time in the room between say, 7 and 11 either but I was impressed by how quiet it was.  My biggest noise complaint was doors slamming around us.
I hope it works out, and sorry I can't be of more help! 🙂

  7. I just got off the Miracle on Sunday (Mar 31) and our shows were 88 Keys, 80s Pop to the Max, and possibly one other than I'm not remembering right now (I didn't care for what I saw of these shows!)
The 2 comedians I saw were Bob Biggerstaff and Al Katz, but I didn't get to the comedy club until the end of the cruise, and I believe they sometimes change comedians mid-week.
The entertainment around the ship was very enjoyable and I totally recommend checking it out: Liz and Lucas are phenomenal and the violin trio were also lovely!

    Enjoy :)

Yes, you can request to see the next day MDR evening menue.

I am Celiac so I need to pre-order the evening before, sometimes I am handed a booklet that has the whole week, sometimes it’s just for the next evening.  I ask our waiter and it is presented without any questions.

Sorry to get off topic, but how has your experience been, cruising with celiac? We're first time cruisers and a little concerned - have you ever been "glutened"? Has the MDR experience been okay? And do you ever risk eating at the buffet?

    Thanks 🙂
