Thank you for posting this question; i'm only booked on my 2nd cruise ever.  I think I may look into a PVP - I still don't understand all of the categories in each type of cabin and have a bunch of thoughts about where and when to cruise for our anniversary....

On the plus side, you don't have to count or budget for drinks. 

If you're like me, on the down side if you want to 'break even' you'd need about 4 or more drinks plus sodas and other stuff (mixed drinks are about $10 - 12, beers $5-7) so I'd not be able to consume enough alcohol to pre-spend the money;.

i'm sorry you may have to cancel your cruise.  I  am sorry something, obviously terrible, has happened to cause you to have to take care of your niece, but as someone who works in the juvenile dependency arena, thank you for stepping in and caring for your niece.  I hope it works out that you can still go on your cruise. 

Definitely contact special needs.  I had to link 2 reservations for dining on my next cruise; I told them my husband is cane dependent and asked about a waiting area at the port.  The agent arranged for a wheelchair for special needs boarding assistance an will take him to the ship. 

• Call customer service.  I'm cruising later in the year with some friends and when I called I needed their booking number and pin and customer service linked our rooms for dining.  We were both already reserved for the same dining time.
