  1. Thanks for the response. We do indeed like our coffees, but it also includes hot chocolates, fresh juices, sodas and non alcoholic cocktails. I think it will be worth it. Still deciding.

  2. First time cruiser here. My family and I will purchase the specialty drinks package. If we are dining at the King's Court for breakfast, can we order specialty coffee and fresh juice? Will there be drinks servers at the King's Court? I want to see if it is worth getting the package for us all.

    Many thanks,

    Ant

  3. I have purchased tickets on the December transatlantic on the Queen Mary 2. This is obviously from Southampton - NYC.
In terms of vaccinations, do we need to show proof of this? Of course flying into USA we do not need this, but I am not sure how the crossing works. Do they ask for vaccination booklets? I do not personally have mine as it was lost many years ago and I am struggling to get this from my country of birth (South Africa). I have lived in Europe for decades and it is a struggle to get necessary paperwork from SA authorities.

The Cunard Voyage Personaliser states to check any mandatory requirements at the bottom of the vaccination page, and the only things that is printed is a caution about the Zika Virus.

Could some of you who have made this crossing on the QM2 please let me know if my family and I will need to present anything to cross to the US.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi all,

I am hoping some seafaring folk can help out a soon to be first timer. We are a young family who are about to purchase our first cruise - the Transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2. We wish to spend Christmas and New Year in NYC and spontaneously decided to sail there, rather than fly.  I will purchase the tickets in the next few days but need some help.

When calling to book, I was notified of the remaining rooms available for our family of 3. The thing that I really need to keep in mind is my wife's tendency to become seasick (visions of her in Venice spring to mind! She gets motion sickness in the car at times too! Although she was absolutely fine on ferry crossings.)

This is where I would like some advice. The remaining balcony suits are midship on deck 8. I have read that mid ship is best at a lower deck (for those prone to seasickness). There are none available. Would deck 8 midship be safe enough for someone with a queasy stomach? We are sailing in December and from what I hear, the sea can become really rough?

I would like to hear from anyone who has had a relatively smooth (ish!) December sailing (I pray there are at least some people out there).

Another question I have is pre purchasing  drinks. Is the beer, wine and spirits package worth it in any of your opinions?  My wife does not drink very much, maybe a couple glasses of wine with dinner, so I think I would skip that with regard to her. As for wine packages. I have not been able to locate these. What wine options do they have on board?

Can we bring bottles on board? If so, how many per person? I was thinking about wine if we decide to have a night in the room, rather than going out.

Finally, have any of you traveled with young children? We have a sociable 5 year old and we are wondering about children's activities on board.

We are very much looking forward to this and I am pretty sure the excitement will go up a notch when booking the tickets this weekend!

  5. Hi,

Please could someone help a first time cruiser. I am out of the UK for a year and currently residing in Czech. My family and I are looking to purchase tickets on the Cunard transatlantic cruise. How do I go about doing this as a non UK resident? I have a UK credit card, but currently residing in Czech.

Also, will the prices be the same as what is advertised on the UK website? I have a feeling this is not so. Is it possible to use a family member's address in the UK? I do not want to do so if it is going to get us in hot water.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
