In my youth, all straws were paper. Perfect? No.
But to be honest, the number of straws that I have used in my home over the past 30 years is zero. If I don’t use them at home, there is no reason why I need one in a restaurant. I’ve never understood the need to give diners a straw when they are served a glass of water.
My thoughts exactly, a big to do about nothing.

Barcelona would be my choice, it’s a great city to visit and the cruise port is close by whether your arriving the day of the cruise or after a stay in town. Rome is another story, it’s Rome who wouldn’t want to spend a couple days precruise there, but an hour drive to port makes it a little more stressful to start there. Athens, the city can be seen in couple of days and port is fairly close by, that being said it would still be my third choice.

Self serve soda machines would be great, it’ll free up the the bar staff, and hopefully the freestyle machines will have a better variety than the bar guns.

Thanks for the great review, I can’t wait for our next cruise.

Thanks for your responses. I’ve booked Baja Cabin 739. But not until April 2020. I’ll have to mull it over.
We've stayed in Baja 739 back in June 2017 on a cruise in the med, there was always a little bit of soot on the deck in morning, which the room steward always cleaned up every morning. The soot was never a big issue, where as the room location was great, so great we booked the same room on the Regal in 2020.

Same with my sailing in Jul 2020, single day in Dublin, and now an over night stay in Cork.

Don’t flame me, but I wouldn’t mind if Princess added a water slides to a few ships. It just might lower the average age demographic on the ships a tad.

I have stayed at Sleep Inn several times, pre and post cruise they offer a good clean hotel, the only negative is that restaurants are a long walk away.

Hi Mr Green
Princess no longer does different coloured carpets,
yours Shogun
Still had them on the Emerald last month.

The cut backs by Princess are certainly unwelcome, but not unexpected as the new economy has taken a toll on all aspects of business. In my job we used to get lots of free items from venders, trips, merchandise, and now that has slowly dried up. Everyone is doing more with less, the cruise industry is no different they made cuts in order to maintain the bottom line, and until passengers put a line in the sand they'll keep reducing expenses till hurts.

No, you have to go up a couple levels to get on top of the bridge, I think you have to go the Lido deck.

Ordered my 3 year old son a suit with a shirt and tie, from Amazon, good quality and a fair price for our cruise last month. We got lots of compliments on his suit and he liked it so much he had to wear it the next night.

Talked to the Princess rep onboard the Emerald two weeks ago, she warned me that any cruises in April could be cancelled, as they might move the ships sooner than earlier published dates.

A partial covered balcony is a plus as you never can tell when it will rain, snow or both. As for the blank spaces, as long as there are no crew doors, it should be quiet.

I just hope his recipes don't make it into the MDR, I like the meals the way they are now, if I trendy food I'll just turn on the food network.

Mmm, fire ball and Coke, love it. I have agree with comment about the bartenders being inexperienced on the ships, I asked for a hurricane drink on sail away, and neither one of bartenders had ever heard of it as it wasn't on their menu.

Just left the Emerald, on the 24th, and the ship looked to be in good shape. We were in D 608, a minisuite, the room was clean and fresh looking from the bathroom, to the balcony- no complaints here. The exterior decks were rusted in several spots here and there, but that's going happen on any ship new or old due to the salty environment they have live in. The ship is going in for a dry dock next month to replace The Italian restaurant, and a new paint job on the hull as it was pretty tough looking.

Misread the departure date for a flight, had to pack everything in a matter of minutes, and then drive 45 miles to the airport. Only forgot to pack an umbrella not bad for panicked packing.

Take it easy on your holiday, sounds like you need the Emerald Princess treatment, she has served us well, and will again in 15 short days.

This is not entirely true. Whether you have enough oxygen or not if you build up too much co2 you will die. It's not an instant process but it will kill you. When you see movies in which someone blocks the outflow of the exhaust from the car directing it into the interior to commit suicide what they are dying from is co2.
It becomes an issue when you pass out from a lack of oxygen, any gas that displaces oxygen in sufficient quantities will kill you if left in that environment long enough.

This is a very interesting topic and I'm glad I stumbled upon it.
A cruise ship hijacked by pirates/terrorists, scary thought!
There've been a few movies with the premise too - Speed 2 for example.
A ship back in 1985 was seized terrorists, it was an Italian ship named The Achille Lauro, 4 members of the PLF took control of the ship.

Coming out of San Francisco can be rough, for the first day at sea, both my
wife and I felt a little less than perky last year.

Don't miss the sail away from atop the bridge, the view is fabulous. I would go up there for viewing the glaciers too.

Has Princess announced new policies on plastic waste?

I remember paper straws, took me couple minutes, they were okay, I can deal with using them as others have said as long as it keeps more single use plastic out the landfills and the oceans.
