Normally, the offer to bid is always available until maybe the day before sailing. At your NCL account, if you click on the booking, you should see "Messages" and one of them should be for "bidding." You can use that to place a bid. Since they are an excess of cabins available, you may get lucky.

Secondly depending on how much you paid for the studio cabin, you may be able to upgrade directly. So for example, if your base fare for the studio cabin was $1300 and the current base fare for a balcony is $1649, then you could pay the difference and get the balcony immediately.

    Hi Brian

Thank you for the response . I paid $1100 for my solo studio. I am veteran . Anyway the bid offer is gone . its no longer available. I was hoping for a spa cabin to bid on . But , that was not a option. I had no idea they would drop the solo suppliment . I am trying to get my agent to help me . I called NCL and they sent me back to her. so we will see. I guess I should book at the last minute. But . I have a job and pets I need to make arrangements for .

I did get the spa pass. So I am happy to be going on another cruise. I hope we can meet . I am planning on attending the CC meet and greet party. See you then .

  2. Hello

I have a question . Alanstarr. How did you get the balcony so cheap its listed right now for 1 travelor at $1649. I am going solo and I am in solo cabin. Do you or anyone else know how I can get a balcony . I was offered to bid on a balcony cabin . But the offer was here and gone. I have called my agent trying to get in on bigger cabin. I have paid in full. Does anyone know how to get them to move me up , this late in the game ?

    Thank you

    Jeanine

  3. Hello

So I booked on this ship for next March to Western Caribbean. I asked TA if I could add the tip and pay prior to sailing. He told me that on this line you pay at the end ?Does this sound correct? If you get the drink package but cant get Starbucks on board, Does NCL have a coffee shop where I can get a cup  of really good expresso? Please bear with me as I am new to this line.

    regards

  4. Hello Cruise friends

I was watching you tube a content creator bought this tee shirt on a Royal Caribbean cruise. I just got off of the Navigator in June they did not have this shirt. Does anyone know how to get this shirt? I have tried the Royal Caribbean website , and Amazon. Any ideas . So why this shirt ? Its an inside joke at work . Everyone at wok knows at work I love cruising and I get teased about this all the time .   Everyone comes to me for resources about cruising . Thankyou in advance.

  5. Hello

I am looking at going on the Breakaway solo. Do they have a adults only swimming pool and area on the ship. Most likely I will be getting a singles room or inside cabin? Having adults only quiet pool area is very important to me . Tell me why as a solo you recommend this line ? I am comparing it to RCL Harmony and symphony line because of the quiet pool area. I was looking at this ship out of NOLA to the Western Caribbean  as I am coming from CA and the flight and travel time would be less for me and I have never been to NOLA . Please advise  and thank you in advance.

    Sincerely

  6. I would say go for it . I just got off of the Navigator of the seas solo. Dont wait until you find your person to travel with . I have similar feelings. I sat a table with group in the MDR . The last two night I met some single lady's and men . I am veteran I met some veterans too at the Jazz club. So fun to talk to people . Who knows  you might meet the love of your life .

I am a shy introverted soul so its really hard for me to meet people . But I made a effort . Alaska is beautiful . You only live once ( COVID taught me that ) . One thing I never hear people say is how safe you feel as as a solo on a cruise. I was able to stay out late and walk back to my cabin. I felt safer than say going somewhere and having to walk back to my room on dark street in a place I have never been. I am not saying crime doesnt happen but it just felt more comfortable.

I actually love to get up early and run on the track or go to the gym when no one is there . It peaceful and much safer than some towns I have been to.

I hope you decide to go . You can always go again if you meet your person.

  7. Hello

I am new to RCL , so please be kind because I dont know and cant find my answer . So I am suppose to go on Navigator of the seas, on June 6-10 . I dont see any entertainment on scheduled in the main main theater on the app. Does any know if they are having some sort of show? I always love going to the dinner in the MDR and then a Show after , its one of the reasons I like cruising so much is that there is entertainment in the evenings everywhere on the ship , usally pre covid. Thankyou in advance for your time . I am still learning to cruise using a app and RCL. I usually cruise Princess, but have decided to try something new and different .

  8. Hello

I am going on the Navigator of the seas in June for 4 days. This is my first time on Royal so please be kind. I need to check into Southwest Airlines 24 hours in advance to get a seat. I am not getting the internet package ,as I work with computers and want some down time from computers . Does Royal have a computer room where I can check in my airline? Thank you in advance for advice.

    Sincerely

    Jeanine

  9. I agree with all of the above posts. Our society with covid has become an excuse to provide bad customer service, no customer service and poor quality food etc.

Get a good travel agent. I work at home for 10hours a day on computer. I have a smart phone . But , I am only going on my phone to book a reservation , That is it. I wonder they can you use desk top computers in the computer center if you have the upgrade which allows free wifi? Perhaps you can use them to book your meals on their website on the desk top. Can you call Princess and find out?

Please let us know what you learn , as I really dont want to be on my phone on vacation. I would prefere to unplug.

    thank you !

  10. BTW the granola is homemade and fabulous. On the Emerald , one morning I did not want eggs. So I ordered the granola. I thought cereal will probably be just ok. But boy was I shocked. It was fabulous , it was the best granola I have every had. The same thought with the OJ. No it was fresh squeezed. Double shock. I had the best day every! We still talk about that day and dream of the next cruise.

You can each take a 12 pack of soda or tonic water or whatever onboard with you at no charge.

    Hello

You can also go on your personalizer and preorder bottled water or soda and a coffee card prior , pay online. When you arrive on the ship on the first day your soda , and water will be in your cabin. Its really not that much more cost than bringing it yourself and you dont have to lug onto the ship. I too dont drink and I dont drink enough soda to pay for a package. So Usually, I just order everything up front .

  12. Hello

This is a difficult question. IMHO it depends on several factors. First is your financial budget for the cost and tours. Look at your budget , and budget everything in including taxes , tips , transportation to and from the ship, airfare, hotel and food at your embarkation port, spending money, drink packages if you need, etc. Tours are expensive in Alaska so please do your research, because just going to a port is not enough. If you can wing the cost of the kids fares, Than I would say look at step two. No sense in getting kids hyped up about a trip you cant afford to bring them on.

Step 2. Once you have a budget, look at ships and what they have to offer. Princess and Holland America are the companies that have been in Alaska the longest and have a lot of Enrichment programs. Look at the pros and cons of each company you choose. This could be the only time in your life you may be able to go to Alaska. Would you like to go on a ship with a covered swimming pool? Perhaps compromise and get a inside cabin and go up on the high decks to see the scenery. Im doing this in 2021.

Step 3. Ok you decided the above and you want to bring the kids. I took the Emerald princess to Alaska in 2016. Let me tell you everyone had a great time. Multigenerations were on that ship. The children were so Well behaved you did not know they were there, Especially in the MDR. What would happen if your kids were off the grid for a week? Yes, family time. They have to talk to you. Yes,  they have to learn new things , see new things and see that the world is all about  not on social media. Yes they have to get dressed up for formal night, and practice social graces. All important life skills.  All of this is really good for them. It will change them forever in a positive way. I dont know your children's needs or your preferences. Perhaps talk to others on the boards who have taken kids to Alaska. Its a lot of work on your part to pack and get them ready and to possibly enforce taking them off cell phones and computers , because they wont like it. But, If you can do it ( I wish I could have ) , I would in heart beat.

Step 4 , Lets do the trip, all of us !

Get the kids involved research, on ports , glaciers , packing  and planning. You could have them help you with budgeting part of the trip. Lots to plan for this trip. Getting the house ready to go. The responsibilities of leaving your home , such as house sitters etc. All life skills.Your kids could find odd jobs to save for excursions and spending money.

I wish you much luck in this tough decision. You tube is a great research tool. Lots of families made videos , so you can see what they did. You Tube  personalities, like Cruise Tips TV and Scott singer have great vlogs. Watch some of them once you decide this is what you want to do. See if the kids will watch too. All of this email is just my honest opinion , I was raised by a educator. So, that is my point of view on travel. Of course all points of view should be considered.

  13. Hello Experienced Cruisers,

This is my second Princess cruise, we did the Emerald to Alaska in 2016. When we were on that ship the food in the main dinning room was so fantastic we cancelled our reservation three times for the steak house. One of the things we loved about the main dinning room was that our waiters and his team, knew us and could almost guess what we wanted before we could tell them. We loved them so much, we cried on the first night. Anyway will it ruin things if we go to the steak house  night? We are traveling with a group and I think we will get a coupon for a discount. So, I was thinking we would do things differently. Would we end up in a different assigned table. Please tell the advantages to going this route on the first night. We had steak in the MDR> I thought it was pretty good. But, I im not much of a steak person. Your insight is gladly appreciated. On a side note the dinning room is one of the main reason I love cruising. Thank you

  14. Hello,

I was on the grand in 2016 round trip out of Seattle .  There were many young adults, many with grandparents and parents. They seemed to be very happy , especially in the dinning room. Actually they seemed to love the formal night , all dressed up (cute) . You know in my honest humble opinion , cruising teaches older kids a lot, especially practicing manners. Important for job interviews , and career skills. I think they will be fine. There is so much to do and not do. Its a chance of lifetime for them. Sometimes we all need to get away from all of the bells and whistles  and just be quiet and enjoy nature, and tradition.
