  1. I've been going to St. Thomas since 1994 and was introduced to the House of Rajah which is downtown. Since then I've purchased many many items even from back in the states here. 100% trust this store and George the owner. If you go, ask for him and tell him Renee from Minnesota sent you. We even renewed our vows for our 25th in St. Thomas and upgraded our rings with him, awesome deal.

  2. Don't judge me for asking this question.

I've heard people say get your pharmacy items in Mexico it so much cheaper.

Quote: The U.S. has the highest prescription drug costs in the world, prompting many people to seek savings by buying their medicines from Canadian or Mexican pharmacies.

What pharmacy items are they taking about prescription meds or regular tylenol, ibuprofen, etc.

I'm just really curious, I've never been in a pharmacy in Mexico before ~

  3. A group of 4 of us are looking to do a catamaran trip through a company while in Playa for the week.

We have our choice of being picked up at our hotel for $15pp round trip or we can hire our own taxi to take us 15 miles. Any idea what a taxi would cost for 4 people to go 15 miles?

  4. CI is Chichen Itza

Ek Balam is a ruin that, like CI, is near the Colonial town of Valladolid. There is a pyramid to climb, with some impressive sculpture half way up, and a great view of the surrounding jungle.

There is also Coba, on the road between Valladolid and Tulum. Also a pyramid to climb. Bikes or pedicabs get you around,

There are plenty of videos of all on zyouTube.

Try contacting Yukatreks, which does small van tours of ruins and cenotes.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I will for sure look at youtube, I forget about that all the time.

Yuatreks, we'll look into this also as the 4 of us would rather do some touring with a private guide than a large group going.

  5. Do you have personal experience with this happening to you? Please give details.

My experience driving (more than once for a fortnight at a time) in this area (Yucatan) has been without problem of any kind.

Timewise though, it might be more relaxing to be driven, to take a bus tour from the port. (We have stayed in the area longer to see all these ruins mentioned, plus EkBalam, our favorite of the 4.)

For a day off the ship, Tulum might be a good suggestion, with its lovely beach to add to the dramatically placed cliffside ruins (that are themselves often crowded, touristy, and also less interesting IMO than CI or EkBalam). But CI is certainly the more impressive ruin.

Hello. Four of us will be spending a week in PDC at the end of February. I did Tulum back in 1993 (don't recall it very well but I remember the beautiful beach down below). We too were talking about which ruins to do. I suggested hire a driver for the day, do Tulum and the beach and come back to 5th Street and party some more.

You mentioned CI, what is this?

You also mentioned EkBalam was your favorite, never heard of this?

I greatly appreciate your help and imput ~

  6. I'd love to do this tour, however, my husband does not swim at all (scared to death).

However, last year in the Virgin Islands, he did for the FIRST time, jump off the boat with life vest on and swim to shore at the Soggy Dollar bar in Josh Van Dyke island.

For someone who is scared of water over his head (to deep) is this an okay day trip to do or skip it?

  7. mind if I steal this? that sounds like so much fun!

Yes, by all means do this. We had so much fun each night before we went to bed searching the hallways for Homer.

We are cruising again the last week of March (spring break) and I'm trying to figure out what character to hang up this time.

Homer, beer, St. patty's day - was the perfect character, and who doesn't know Homer, lol.

    Any ideas?

  8. I'm with the decorators. My kids love it!

We've decorated on a past cruise with magnets (different cruiseline). Does anyone know if the doors on the Destiny are metal or wood?

    Much appreciated.

Wood. I brough magnets with, did NOT work except on the framing of the door only. Thank goodness I brought a package of tacking poster tape which worked perfectly. People on this board told me they were metal, but honestly were not.

  9. We cruised over St. Patty's day one year. I made up a BIG Homer Simpson with a beer in hand and a sign in the other hand with a st. patty's shirt to boot. I also attatched a pen and roll of tape.

The sign said "steal me off this door, write your cabin # on it and let's see how many rooms I visit over the course of the week."

The last night we went looking for it, found it 4 floors above our floor, and Homer visited 220 rooms. The cruise director even made an announcement over the intercom about who's seen Homer.

    It was fun.

  10. :D We are cruising on March 16th. We have a honeymoon couple and new cruisers. It is also St. Patricks day, Good Friday & Easter.

    I am making:

Say I do, to the perfect Honeymoon w/rings, hearts, lovers, unset

Welcome Aboard w/palm trees, beach & ocean scene

I may not be IRISH, but I sure can drink like one w/green beer & clovers

I googles door signs (images) and found all sorts of ideas. Just need to come up with easter signs now. Found table centerpieces that you can open half way and stick on the doors (making the image stick out) - tropical fish, ship stickers at the craft store, garland to go around the whole outside of the door (seen this done before), and palm trees.

So far these are my ideas I've found. Should be fun, no one knows I am doing this, can't wait to make them this weekend - keep the ideas coming.:D

  11. THANKS EVERYONE, for you help on this. We ALWAYS look forward to bringing home liquar that is so much cheaper to get there than here. I will be sure to check out the airport even when we land there and scope out the prices and what they carry before going to the ship. I know I love "clippers" which is St. Thomas' version of Captain Morgan which even tastes better and I think stronger than Captain. So, therefore I will have to pick up some of these, and just pack good in my checked luggage. Again, thanks.

    Happy cruzin!!:)

  12. Is there a duty free liquar store in the San Juan airport? I know there is a perfume and jewelry shops, but what about liquar. I am asking, because once you pass through security, couldn't you purchase your liquar here to bring back to the states with you, rather than packing it in your checked luggage before going through security. Just wondering - someone from San Juan could make a fortune right now if there was or is one - with everyone not allowed to bring the liquid on as carry on, one would think the airport would make tons from us Americans who want to bring bottles back with us. A thought!!
