Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. No, you cannot watch without phone, iPad or computer to cast to the TV. The TV has a channel for the purpose of receiving the broadcast originated on another device. using a Firestick or other HDMI input device would theoretically be possible if you could change the input on the TV; however, with the controls provided, I could find no way to do that.
  2. You can also do it on Beyond. The mirror or casting is the easy part. Just follow directions on the TV. The hard part was this most of my streaming services wouldn’t work because of ships location, ie…out of service area. If I remember correctly, Prime worked well.
  3. I was on deck 15. Something sure woke me up. But what I really want to know is the story on the elderly lady dancing alone in the atrium area every time there was live music.
  4. I just did that trip and ship a month ago in a suite. Cancel the cabana. You will not want to be that close to commoners, I mean the retreat sun deck is very, very nice. As far as tours, those are the three ugliest Caribbean islands I have been to. They aren’t very tropical, but more like deserts. I toured each of them, but honestly nothing was all that impressive. My suggestion is to just do something that sounds fun since there isn’t a lot to see. The ship tour is a personal preference item. I think every other optional dining venue provides a better experience than the Magic Carpet. Try to go to Eden. Expensive but best experience.
  5. No answers yet? Very few of us have stayed in the Iconic suites. I do think I can answer a couple of the questions though. Unlimited speciality dining? Make a reservation and go. I don’t think you would get an up charge on a Tomahawk. I think Raw on 5 had a unique arrangement like maybe a dollar limit; however, I also bet when you give them the Iconic Suite number it’s possible they may not keep track. Room service doesn’t work that way. You have an actual menu you may order from, but it does not include everything from the speciality restaurants. At least that way in other upper suites. You will have mixers and alcohol in your room. I’m not certain if you can order mixed drinks to be delivered or not, but you are literally a 20 second walk from the Retreat Lounge where you can get whatever you want. I bet you can get a carafe of orange juice delivered. They realize you spent a ton of money. Since this is all pretty anonymous anyway, what did the Iconic suite set you back for four adults?
  6. The speciality drinks in Eden are $20. At that level, soberity doesn’t seem so bad.
  7. The ice cream station that is at the front end of the buffet area has simply delicious ice cream. Eat lots of it. Second, go into the Eden area just to sit and watch the ocean go by. One of the nicer spots on the ship.
  8. Well, since you mentioned it….the pool was maybe or one or two degrees cooler than I like forcing me to push the button to raise the temperature. Additionally, once we were down to one can of Diet Coke before they refilled the frig. Who needs that level on anxiety on vacation? Lastly, I sprayed myself with cold water in the shower. If we had been with US territorial waters, I would have notified the FBI. But otherwise,it was good.
  9. They ask us which level we wanted them delivered.
  10. Sounds like the Beyond. The ship is beautiful. Be sure to explore it carefully and find all the little hidden gems. The ABC’s aren’t particularly interesting islands, but the trip is very good. Be sure to go into Eden and enjoy the view. Sunset bar looks nice. Really good ice cream in the front of the buffet. I loved the walking track to get in some steps. Specially restaurants are pretty good, but not budget friendly. Even if you love going to casinos, avoid playing on the ship. Lowest odds on anything I’ve ever seen. The shows were above average.
  11. Our last two cruises have been in Edge Villa’s, one the Edge and the other on Beyond. Now we are spoiled to do anything less. I blame Celebrity for this. They surely knew this would happen when these suites were originally designed. Carelessness or wreckless abandon? I don’t know, but I highly recommend you try one. I will grant that they are too expensive much of the time, but you can catch bargains here and there. Well below $20,000 for two if you look for bargains. When you have an Edge Villa, your suite will be a huge part of the experience. We spent a ton of time inside our room. We aren’t in that group who cruises six times a year, so maybe once a year splurging. We love everything about them. The open two story concept makes it feel bigger than it is. The lower level is on a hallway that includes a Backdoor into the Retreat Lounge making it very handy to peek inside and see what goodies are out or to grab a cocktail, although, the full alcohol bottles they placed in the room with mixers make that largely unnecessary. The upstairs exit was slightly different on each ship. On the Beyond, we had a small sitting area that was fully covered from the elements. We did actually sit there several times. Luminae was on that deck meaning we exited from the bedroom level when dining there. However, since unlimited speciality dining is included in that suite level, we did tend to eat dinner at those. We did send a bag of laundry and some dry cleaning out, it was returned within 24 hours and looked amazing all at no charge. We utilized the balcony daily and spent a fair amount of time in our little pool/hot-tub. The balcony was what I consider 100% private. So if you wanted to get naked or giggy, I suppose you could. Two full bathrooms, plenty of storage, comfortable furniture, great AV equipment, full glorious two story tall windows, considerate Butler service, daily in-suite snacks and probably much I have forgotten about make these a must do if you can swing it. My next trip is on an older ship, so we will see how the Royal Suites stack up. I’m telling you….figure out a way to do this at least once in your lifetime.
