  1. On our last cruise, they scheduled them for the Molecular Bar as well and people shifted it to the wine and martini bars.

When they were held at the Molecular Bar, at least you knew who was a part of the "Friends". The Martini Bar, being more crowded with other passengers, was sometimes a crap shoot as to who was there for the gathering, and who was just having a drink with their brother-in law. (hee-hee)

That reminds me of a funny incident on our Brilliance of the Seas cruise. Lee and I strolled into the Champagne Bar and chit-chatted with the two very flamboyant, bartenders for a while. The next day, we showed up again, this time with our two single female friends we were traveling with. Then we showed up later just the two of us again. The bartenders came over and asked us what the the hell was going on, they thought we were the husbands fooling around together while the wives were back in the room.

  2. Hey everyone!

I'm Lee's partner (or should I say fiance) Mike. Lee mentionned people were chatting here, so I thought I'd better check in too!

I *LOVED* the transatlantic we did on Eclipse in the fall of 2011. I can't believe how quickly the sea days went by, and we had seven in a row. There was a great group of guys on that sailing and we have stayed in touch with several of them. The seas were pretty choppy on that sailing (they closed the treadmills in the gym since people were falling off) but thankfully nobody in our group was motion sick.

This will be our fourth cruise on a Solstice-class ship (twice on Solstice, once on Eclipse). I love the decor of these ships and the variety of venues for dining and drinking. Aqua Class is awesome, I really enjoy the food and ambiance in Blu and the extra little perks are great.

We're spending a few days in Rome before the cruise. I am currently using Rosetta Stone Italian to prepare for the trip. I took some classes before visiting Italy a few years ago, but not speaking the language very often did not allow me to retain much of it.

This will be cruise number 26 for us, and will be our honeymoon. We are getting married on Sept 28th.

Look forward to seeing everyone onboard (or in Rome beforehand)

I don't want to debate anything...I'd just like to hear why some men are objecting to wearing suits?

It is the Caribbean...it is hot out!

Putting on a dress shirt, then another thick layer of a blazer or jacket is crazy in that climate.

Women can get away with thin, gauzy, lightweight outfits, but men are stuck in multiple layers. It is not enjoyable. Why would anyone "want" to spend their vacation uncomfortable and hot?

  4. However, with the negative reviews and experiences/pictures from those who tried it on her we don't want to waste our $$. Does anyone have any recent photos/reviews from their experience? We would really like to try it.

We did the Chef's Table on Sapphie last Sept and it was a highlight of the cruise.

We talk about in on our dining podcast and on our web site (link in signature below). A few pictures are posted...I was too busy enjoying the food and wine to take too many pictures.

I would absolutely do this event again on any Princess ship.

  5. In our opinion, on the big ships......... go down to the seventh deck and try 7688 / 7388 . The room is standard but the balcony is not. We took Bonnie's advice on this a few years ago on Navigator. We have booked it again on Adventure for next April. Last year we had 1700 on Freedom and I agree it is a great cabin.

Note...... some people claim to not like the 7688/7388 balconies because of outward structure. It certainly is not a full sun aft balcony such as 9256 on Serenade but it is the roomiest and has an awesome side view also. We hold big parties on it.......dancing room too.

7388...I know it well...fantastic balcony!!! We hosted a Cabin Crawl on one cruise and had 37 people on the balcony.

We have it again on back-to-back cruises on Adventure in May.

  6. My partner and I are preparing for our second cruise leaving on January 30th. We've visited Grand Cayman and Cozumel before, but have never been to Jamaica. I didn't know how unfriendly they were to gay or lesbian travelers until after booking and am a little apprehensive now. I just read that Grand Cayman was a little unfriendly as well but we didn't have a problem at all last time.

Visit this web site and decide: http://www.boycottjamaica.org/

    It's an awful, awful place.

  7. I asked my travel agent for a price on cruising AOS in March. She got back to me and said the RCL rep advised her not to book us on AOS becasue of recent complaints that the cruise was not "what people expected on a RCL cruise" and suggested we look at Serenade instead. we really wanted the AOS itinerary so am now very conflicted. Has anyone else gotten this advice??

Our cruise on Adventure last September was one of the best RCCL cruises we have been on. It is highly recommended!
