  1. We just did my all-time ever favorite shore excursion at Grand Cayman last week. Has to be booked through a third-party but it’s a horseback ride and swim. I know there are several operators that offer it. Our particular excursion was made even better by the fact that they were only two of us that day so it was a little more personalized. But the feeling of riding a horse that is swimming was just beyond.

  2. I’m on the same sailing. My best guess is that we are going to end up having a sea day that day (I can’t imagine it will be possible or appropriate  to call at Grand Cayman, given they are a British territory.)  I’d bet that there is something nice in the way of a memorial on board.  NOTE: This is just my gut feelings. I have zero facts or actual knowledge.

  3. Kind of a silly question but here goes. We do have this tour booked for our upcoming cruise. I wasn’t planning on packing long pants (just some capris) but I see the tour description says long pants required. Does anyone know if capris would be acceptable or it needs to be truly regular pants like jeans?

It was time to do my wine search this afternoon since they only have a limited supply of moscato which you can only buy by the bottle, even if you have the Premium Beverage package. And I think I have found a suitable substitute that I can get by the glass and it’s only 8% alcohol. I know, many of you like a more dryer wine. But for me the less acidic and more sweeter the taste is the better. 😁

I sure hope this is temporary issue! Moscato is my go-to.  We had as much by the glass as we wanted in the MDR on the Equinox in May…next two cruises are Equinox in September and then Summit.

  5. I’m wondering if it’s allowed to bring on a bottle if liquid coffee creamer?  And if so,  a 32oz bottle?  And also, is there truly limit on soda?  I’m traveling with BFF, and she really is attached to her flavored creamer. And to be honest, I wouldn’t mind having my favorite either.

I’ve seen many references here and on other social sites that to up to 12 cans/bottles of soda up to 16oz can be brought on.   But all I can find on the Celebrity site is the discussion about wine, and a statement that no perishable or fresh foods can be brought on.  I’ve tried reviewing the FAQ on the Celebrity site as well as the cruise contracts and can’t find any discussion that is applicable.

Does anyone have any input on the creamer, or can point me to the correct Celebrity document?

  6. On the Equinox, I did notice a separate gluten-free area at breakfast at the buffet. One thing that really caught my attention was a waffle maker with a big sign on it that it was to be used for gluten free only.  You could also get gluten-free pizza at the buffet. I am not GF but my sister is and those are a few things I noticed when I was with her in the Buffet.

  7. Absolutely yes! We ordered two most nights. Out of the five in our group, two of us seemed to order the shrimp cocktail plus one other item every night. One night we didn’t order anything except the shrimp cocktail and the waiter brought us two of them. Lol.

My wife and I always have the premium drink package but we always bring on Two 12 packs of either diet Mt Dew or Diet Sprite.   My wife needs this for taking meds. We each put one 12 pack on our rolling carryon with bungee straps. Never a problem going through the screening on the way to the ship.  Have  done this on a Celebrity , RCCL, HAL and Disney the last 20 + years!

On the Equinox in May they had plenty of Diet Sprite available.

Asked that same question and was told if either my wife or I tested positive we could. 1- get a refund.  2- substitute our daughter and the reservation. 3- one person testing negative could cruise alone, but that negated the refund.  Did not challenge as it was a hypothetical but guess they would refund half after negotiations.

I would assume/hope that insurance would cover the other persons loss, and while the cruise line would keep the cruise fare basically as a single supplement, they would refund the taxes, etc. (We did buy third party insurance that covers Covid as any other illness.)

  10. I am not happy about losing the late departure in Curaçao. I had plans to hang out on a beach until the early evening and then make a leisurely trip back to the ship instead of having to rush to get back so early.

I was looking that the ships scheduled in each port and I believe it was Curacao that by moving us there is only one ship scheduled instead of two the day we were supposed to be there. I was wondering if possibly Curacao wanted to limit to one ship at a time.  Prior schedule showed two in Aruba the day we were supposed to be there and it still shows one in addition to us on our new date. That said the websites not been updated so I’ll be interesting to see if there’s other movement as well that week.

  11. I just sailed on Celebrity for the first time on the equinox in May.  I did not notice this at all. One thing I actually appreciated about the ship was that you even didn’t really see any of the limited areas.  It felt like you had to go looking for them so it’s not like those areas were in your face all the time. And I did not come across a single other passenger that I would’ve had any clue what class state room they were in.

  12. Just took my first Celebrity cruise in May on the Equinox. Have also sailed NCL and RCCL.  After just the one cruise on Celebrity I’m ready to never sail any body else again.  My only complaint was that sometimes there were louder activities going on in areas when I would’ve rather been sitting in quiet like trivia in the observation lounge. The solarium can’t be beat for a quiet relaxing pool area. Food was the best of the three. We didn’t buy any specially dining and didn’t miss it.

Do the bars not serve fountain drinks from a soda gun?

    Cans only?

I prefer cans, so am happy with that.  But I think you could get from the soda guns as well. I seem to remember one time they made something for me using soda from guns…..but I’m not positive.  I was either ordering alcoholic drinks that didn’t use soda or a can of Diet Coke.

If I purchase the package under my name, do I need to be in every picture, or will pictures of everyone in my cabin be included?

As long as at least one person who is in the cabin with the person who purchased the package is in the picture it will be counted.  I purchased the package and was sharing a cabin with my mom and aunt. My sisters were in another cabin. So as an example, a picture with my mom and my sisters counted in the package. Or a picture with just my aunts or just my mom etc. etc.

For us it is not ONLY about what we can do to protect ourselves in such situations, IT IS about contact tracing and the potential inconvenience caused for up to a few days while waiting for test results and in the worst case scenario, isolation because of our 'Devil May Care' attitude surrounding any potential exposure.

I say go for it for those who could care less about exposure and contracting C-19. Those of us with concerns for our health and exposure and continued unfettered enjoyment of our vacation(s) need to continue to take any and all precautions to prevent any 'possible/potential' exposure that could ruin it for us, in our estimation.

    Whatever you decide, good luck....

    In health and bon voyage

Exactly. We are accepting the potential risks of contracting Covid despite taking precautions. I don’t want to accept being quarantined for a few days waiting on negative results just because I went on an excursion.

Where are you cruising from and how will you get to the ship?

We are flying….the concern isn’t so much contracting Covid as it is being being contact traced based on the excursion.  But I do admit comments on this thread as well as the rise in Covid numbers are making me question group excursions regardless.

  17. We always do a mix of cruise line excursions, third-party tours, and on our own. For our upcoming celebrity equinox on May 21 we have scheduled a Celebrity excursion for San Juan which is our first port. I am debating canceling and doing something on our own solely for fear of somebody on that excursion coming up Covid positive and us being considered close contacts do to being on the same excursion, and having to go through the whole isolation while waiting to (hopefully)test negative.  We intend to mask in crowds and stay largely to ourselves to stay as safe as possible.

Would you cancel the excursion or take the chance?  Is there any experience in the group with coming up as a close contact due to an excursion?

  18. We are on that same sailing. If I recall from my last eastern Caribbean cruise about 10 years ago Saint Martin has a water taxi. It could be St. Thomas but I’m thinking it was Saint Martin. Whichever one it is it’s just a quick walk from the pier and you can basically see the beach from the water taxi landing. Wouldn’t be that much of a walk either. I didn’t really look for refreshments on that beach that you could buy a chair and umbrella.
