  1. Just got back from the Adventure in my upgraded room. We booked a Jr Suite with 4 people in it. About a month and a half out we got a call to upgrade for $500 to a two bedroom grand suite. It was amazing and so worth every penny. We booked directly through Royal and didn’t get an email, only a call. The Suite life sure was sweet! I don’t know how I’m going to go back to my interior rooms!

  2. We had sun for the entire 2 weeks we were in Alaska. We were to,d this never happens. Most tours we took said they are actually better in the rain because the wildlife likes the cool weather and waterfalls are plentiful so it is even more beautiful. Good luck and just do things when in port! You can’t see Alaska too well from the commercialized ports. It’s so beautiful no matter what you’ll do you are going to love it!

  3. We were in port a few days ago and the ship had told passengers whale watching has not been good this year in Juneau so go somewhere else. The people who went saw humpbacks bubble feeding 2-4 times! They all said it was amazing! I saw some pictures and wish we had gone but we had scheduled whale watching in icy straight. Wildlife is magical like that! Different every day and unexpected! I’m glad you had a magical experience!

  4. As for the port we love Bermuda. Horseshoe Bay beach is breathtaking. It can get crowded but not too bad. We’ve been twice and roadie the public bus both times. We just asked the bus driver to let us know when to get off. We also went to the Crystal Caves. It was also amazing. We had our kids with us then and they are into caves. Also took the bus and ferry here. The people are so kind in Bermuda. The Summit was great. Laid back. 2 summers ago there were only 250 kids onboard and we felt like we barely saw kids!

  5. I’d go for the places you want to go over the ship. Millie is getting a makeover anyway so it will look brandspanking new. Congrats! We leave tomorrow for our 2 week 15th anniversary Alaskan adventure onboard Millie!

  6. We leave tomorrow for a 15th anniversary trip to Alaska. We’ve done the beach thing and wanted to make our trip special by doing things we’ve never done, helicopter on a glacier, float plane, whale watch. It’s turned into a 2 week trip! Pick a place you haven’t gone to and plan around the location!

We’ve gone on the summit out of NJ to Bermuda. It was the best. The ship is getting an upgrade this winter. We loved how small it was and there was so much attention to ever detail. Plus it’s like a floating hotel and Bermuda is beautiful. Horseshoe bay beach is breathtaking!

  7. I am so excited! I’ve been reading here all about the upsells that Royal is now doing. Today I got a call from Royal asking if I wanted to upgrade my current room on the Adventure. I was booked in a Jr Suite with 4 people, 2 adults, 2 kids. I was offered a Grand Suite but not just any one, an aft facing, 2 bedroom Grand Suite! I was nervous about the price and the woman said all for only $500. I said yes because to me this was a great price to get 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms for the 4 of us! I’ve looked at the video online and the room looks amazing. I’m not telling my travel companions and can’t wait to see their faces when we board in August.

I’ve never been in a Suite of any kind so what kind of perks do we have to look forward to? Thanks in advance!

  8. We’ve gone to Bermuda twice on a cruise. So far it has been my favorite place to visit. Horseshoe bay beach is a must. We rode the public bus both times. Just tell the bus driver where you are going and they’ll tell you when to get off or you could ask a local and they will too. We also visited Crystal Caves and it’s sister cave whose name escapes me. It was amazing. My kids are elementray age and loved the caves. We also did public buses and the driver took us when to get off. I bought a book before we went and researched the bus routes. On the ship there is plenty to do. We used the pool on a sea day but there were other activities too. Sometimes just relaxing with a good book was enough for me!

  9. Thanks for the photos! I’ll be in one of the new JS 1100 in August. My mom and I can’t wait. Love the Voyager class ships. I haven’t been on one that’s been this updated! I was so excited to see when I had booked that waterslides had been added previously. My kids will love those. My mom has only been on the Grandeur so I cannot wait to see her face when we step onboard. She’s only stayed in an interior room before. I hope she loves having her own balcony. I’ve only had 1 ever but it was great! Thanks again for this sneak peek!

  10. Nightlight, it is dark in an interior stateroom. Mad libs! We played these for hours on our last cruise, my kids were 8 and 9 then, goldfish or small snacks. There is plenty of fruit and veggies onboard but I’ve never seen a lot of chips, pretzels, or goldfish. My small guys could tear up some goldfish. Sun hat, kid sun glasses, books, coloring books and crayons. We took books and coloring books to the theater to keep them entertained before the shows.

Our biggest thing was if they were tired we let them nap even if it meant us staying in our room and missing out on something. A well rested kid is far better behaved and more enjoyable to be around then an exhausted one. We still do that now even though they are older! Enjoy your trip!

  11. Thanks everyone for your replies! We knew we wouldn’t see everything on this trip. I guess I’ll have to plan another one to see Seward. I’ll try calling the hotels to see if that works. I love this group! It’s so helpful! Thanks again!

  12. We go from July 23-August 3

We are flying into Seattle spending a few days there then flying into Fairbanks the day before the tour. We’ve never been to Alaska so I don’t know what to expect. We are very excited to see the beauty of Alaska. In the cruise ports we are doing a helicopter to a glacier, float plane, and whale watching all through private tours recommended by cruise critic people. I can’t seem to find a lot of details on what to expect on the tour portion and when we will find out details from celebrity.

Day 1 is Fairbanks check in,

Day 2 Fairbanks After breakfast, discover the sights and sounds of Fairbanks on the Fairbanks City Tour. Step back in time and uncover Alaska's rich gold rush history at Gold Dredge 8. The adventure continues with a scenic afternoon cruise down the Chena River on the Riverboat Discovery sternwheeler. From 5:00 p.m., Fairbanks is yours to enjoy. Relax at your Alaskan lodge set on the banks of the Chena River, or enjoy an optional all-you-can-eat Alaskan-style meal before a light-hearted musical comedy about the founding of Fairbanks.

Day 3 Fairbanks/ Denali Board the Wilderness Express?, a glass-domed traincar for the scenic ride to Denali. Indulge in a freshly prepared savory lunch available for purchase aboard the train. From 3:30 p.m., Denali is yours to discover. Enjoy an optional land excursion, such as visiting the sled dogs of the Husky Homestead, or relaxing at your lodge where the Nenana River rushes by

Day 4 Denali Spend a morning immersed in the beauty of Alaska's natural landscape as you head deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour. Along the way, watch for Alaska’s "big five:" caribou, moose, bear, gray wolves, and Dall sheep. After your tour, Denali is yours to explore. Experience Denali's overpowering magnificence in a range of optional land excursions, from bush pilots taking you up into the skies, to leisurely hikes on quiet trails, to river rafting down the Nenana River.

    Day 5 Denali/Anchorage/Seward

In the morning, you’ll travel by deluxe motorcoach to Anchorage for lunch on your own. Then, you’ll continue past the beautiful Chugach Mountains to Seward, where you’ll board Celebrity Millennium? to begin your cruise adventure.

  13. My husband and I are taking a cruise tour through Celebrity on the Millenium in late July/early August. This is our first Alaskan cruise! We are very excited. I have done a ton of research on this site and have booked a bunch of excursions based off of many people’s recommendations! Thank you for all your help already!

I have some questions about the tour portion. We are taking the Megistic Tundra Explorer Tour which is 5 days if you count the day getting onto the ship. It is a pre cruise tour. Anyway, we are flying into Fairbanks a day early. Will we find out our hotel reservation early enough so we could book the same hotel for the day before? All the tour information is pretty vague. Also around what time do you normally board the ship? We have a conceriarge class room and was wondering if we will make it in time for the MDR lunch. First time in a conceriarge room, aft! Will we find out ahead of time all the times things will take place on the tour? I’m a major planner! Also what types of things should we do in Denali? Our package includes the Wilderness Tundra Tour.

Any other tour tips or even Alaska tips would be great! Now I just have to wait until July!

  14. My children were 5 and 6 on their first cruise. The pools were too deep for them so we became human jungle gyms when they were tired from swimming. I wish we had brought floaties for them. They can order off the adult main dining room menu. My boys always ordered shrimp cocktail. Back then they could get milk without a drink package at dinner, not sure if you still can. They didn’t like the kids club then but on their next cruise at 8 and 9 we couldn’t get them to leave lol. We just did lots of things with them on the 1st cruise so they didn’t cry at the kids club, no biggie. We let them eat whatever they wanted since it was vacation! They did a good job of eating fruits and veggies because there was such a variety I didn’t mind when they had 2 scoops of ice cream and 2 cookies after dinner, the waitstaff spoiled them! Take some of their toys for down time. We took mad libs on the last cruise, parked on deck 4, and sat and laughed for hours! We also had the kids bring books to read. Have fun!

  15. In June we did Celebrity's 4 day Tundra Wilderness tour before boarding the Millennium in Seward. Stayed two nights in Fairbanks at Pike's Waterfront Lodge and 2 nights in Denali at Denali Park Village. Had a great time with a great bunch of people.

We are doing this same trip next July. I can't wait and am happy to hear it was great.

  16. First time Celebrity cruiser here! We leave Saturday on the Summit, can't wait! I printed the Xpress pass this morning and only got 1 for 2 staterooms. All 4 of my family members are listed on the 1 pass. We've cruised with Royal a bunch and always had 1 pass per person. My 2 kids are minors and are in one room and we , the parents, are in another. Is this correct that we should only have 1 pass listing everyone's names and both rooms? Thanks for your help! We are looking forward to a change in cruise line and Bermuda!

  17. You can get pizza in the cafe promanade. They have it late at night. I've never seen hot sandwiches there but I haven't been on a ship in 2 years. We go on Freedom March 29th!! I don't know of a poolside eatery just the Windjammer buffet that is on the same deck as the pool. You could grab a burger from there and take it to the pool. I love the freedom class ships. Lots to do and lots of places to relax!

  18. We were across from the pub once and it didn't really bother us. It was louder at times because of people carrying on but not a big deal. I am a light sleeper and normally manage to drift off without a problem in a PR. We've cruised 5 times and have had a PR 3 times. Have 2 connecting rooms booked for August. It is our preferred money saving cabin. We like deck 8 because the windows tilt down a little.
