  1. I have cruised on HAL, princess and NCL. I would rank them in this order. I did not care for the food on NCL except in the specialty restaurants, nor did I care for the main dining rooms, the layout, and the crowds. I think HAL is more elegant and NCL more laid back, so I guess it depends on what you are looking for. The suites are indeed nice on NCL.

     

    I think HAL is a bit more elegant and sophisticated than several others we have been on. (the exception being Crystal)

    the thing I like about HAL is that you always feel you are actually on a ship and not a floating amusement park.

  2. Your large bags will arrive in your stateroom as quickly as the crew can deliver them. remember there are a thousand others waiting for theirs as well. Get settled with your carry on stuff and then relax a while or explore the ship. It is always best to follow the old Hawaiian adage "hang loose." that means, don't get uptight just relax. Sometimes a nice tropical drink helps in that regard. The first day is always very casual so you won't need to worry about dressing up.
