For some the 2bit hooker look is trendy. That doesn't mean it belongs anywhere outside of a seedy street corner.
"I can resist everything except temptations....."!
Since you quoted me, I was tempted to quote you........

I still can't believe it.... :)! Miracles do exist after all. What a wonderful time we had chatting in Kenmare Ireland...
Hope this will work out as planned for both of us! That you're now finally making your first Seabourn cruise will be an eye opener and absolute highlight of your life. Even stranger things have happened to me in Ireland and especially Kenmare;)!
Have a great cruise on the Sojourn! I'm sure we will be spoiled on the Odyssey... Counting the hours:D...

Jeans after 6pm...that is just rude. It takes away from proper attire. Leave the jeans for traveling or daytime play, but get out the decent dudes for evening were...
I don't really agree... For young trendy people there are highly fashionable jeans (designer) that by all means look much nicer than some other wore down trousers:rolleyes:! They can look awesome with a nice shirt, jacket or beautiful top!

Thanks Marja for "the memories" ~~we surely made many!
Those were the days of 'wine and roses.....I so miss the Officers and Crew that have moved on ~and certainly all of our Seabourn friends that have passed or those no longer sailing with us.
For Norm's photo album, the link is:
Martita B.
Thanks Martha!
I wanted to make sure the photos would remain safe, as Norman said they won't be available much longer via the link above. Of course I could not upload all of them... a bit of my personal choice and input. It was quite some work as I had to store the photos one by one first;)!
But okay... as they say here in Holland "it kept me from the street"!

Check out my new album:
"Photos by Norman Fisher - Crew/Guests (not to be missed!)"
on "Seabourn Friends" on facebook.
The most interesting and wonderful photos of both crew and guests, going back in time for almost a decade!

Hello Ms Martita... You wont remember me ... but I think I met you a few years ago on the Pride (March 2006) ! Are you the American lady that 'Tickled the Pride Pink ' ?? :D
If so, you were very kind to me ( just after my mother passed away) as it was one my of my first cruises alone .....
I'm joining the Quest in Hong Kong - Venice and I understand you'll be joining too ? ...... I'll look forward to having a drink & chat with you.
Bell Boy:)
Hi Bell Boy!
I'm not sure if Martita will be on board this cruise....
I will be on the same leg... and I also was on that Pride March sailing with the Pink Party! Maybe we know each other ;)!
Thanks, Marja. I want to dine at the restaurant in Bar Harbor, Acadia National Forest that Chairsin recommended and we tender at that port. My mobility has become increasingly hampered. In the triplets, going down is ok, it's the two levels up that are the killer, hence the ability to use the service elevator is a real help.
I'm sorry to hear that Jane.... I would certainly go for it as you don't have to climb stairs and the crew will be helpful in the tenders.
Have a nice Sunday!

Question: What is the tender service like on the big ships? What deck, lots of stairs? On the small ships one walked down outside the lounge and then I could take the service elevator up to 5. I need to know as it makes a difference if I plan an excursion or not.
Thanks.
The tenders are easier to reach.... not many steps. However, we find the tenders as such not very comfortable. As a matter of fact, the old ones on the small ships are easier to be seated.

Marja,
You may be different but not unique. Some of the most boring evenings I've ever spent have been at the captain's table.
As for the maitre d' sizing people up as they enter the restaurant only people to whom feeling important is important will care.
Henry... I don't quite understand what you're saying here, but anyway... we do follow the dress code in our own way (not unique;)) but different and we normally enter the restaurant when the Maitre'D has long gone and first guests are leaving. Mostly having a table for two...

Hmmm. Does Seabourn now administer IQ tests to determine which passengers might be capable of intelligent conversation? Or perhaps one has to flash a Mensa card to find presumably articulate table companions. Failing that, how does the maitre d' establish the likelihood of interesting table pairings?
Are you suggesting that the maitre d', who is no doubt a fashion consultant of high order, focuses his eye upon a couple as they enter the mdr, awards them a barely passing grade for his not wearing a Kiton cravat, and banishes them to a table in the farthest reaches of the room--Seabourn's Siberia?
The maitre d' on the smaller ships might perhaps might know that this guest is a bore, or that one an enthusiastic tippler who swiftly finds his jokes more amusing than do others in the vicinity. But it strains credulity to suggest that anyone can establish the expectation of charm, wit and humor from the brief appraisal of a couple entering the mdr.
Do you think perhaps the clue is in the accent?
Thanks for your never ending eloquence ;=)! By the way, we were talking about dress code here.... Though we never "do" hosted tables by choice, we still get an invite for the captain's table every cruise (which we personally decline too, explaining the captain that we don't make an exception for him, in a nice way....). Yes, I know.... we are different!

Everyone has their own preferences, but for me, I won't be going back to Crystal until they adopt flexible "anytime dining" and get rid of the silly reservation system they now have.
The flexibility of deciding when to eat and, who to eat with, while you are having your pre-dinner libation is true luxury. Eating at a set time or making decisions early in the day is not my cup of tea.
Thank you for sharing this... I had not looked into that yet! In that case.... we'll stick with Seabourn;)!

The sensible traveller will try all luxury lines and then make their choice.
Exactly. It may be a reason for us to try Crystal if the itinerary suites us.
Marja

I wonder if Seabourn will lose guests to Crystal, now that line will be all inclusive starting next spring.....
Have a good week all!

I would like to invite you to join my group "Seabourn Friends" on facebook (if you are a facebook member/user). It is absolutely safe and no competition to Cruise Critic!
I just need some action there at the moment, because otherwise the group will be "archived" instead of "upgraded" and I will lose all my friends:eek:!
Thanks in advance!

Iceland is really beautiful and different!
I hope all will be normal soon and people won't have to miss ports (or cruises even...) due to nature circumstances. But I'm afraid there will always be difficulties somewhere in the world....
Marja

Sorry - I have just looked again at the up to date brochure, and it says for formal optional in the MDR it is tuxedo, dinner jacket or dark suit - guests in elegant casual are welcomed in the alternative dining venues (not much choice on the small ships, simply the veranda cafe aka Restaurant 2!)
So I was wrong to say SB is not making it more clear. As it would be a pity not to eat in the MDR for formals - usually a splendid menu - I fear that those who wish to do so need, for the men, tux, DJ or dark suit.
And the Sky Grill if the weather is nice....!
