  1. Can anyone give me an idea about getting a cab in Freeport for an island tour?   cost?   I am looking for about a 2 hr tour.  I will be traveling with my 2 grandchildren ages 10 and 13 and I want them to see first hand what a hurricane can do to an island and the people.

  2. Thanks for the advice. We will be in port from 1pm til 7pm.   I just saw that the fort closes as 5pm so I think we will have to cross that off of our "to do" list for now.  Thanks for the tip on scenery.  That looks like all we really have a choice of.

  3. Don't waste your time taking a bus back to port. Bus is $2.50 per and with 5 people per cab, that would be $12.50 for the bus and the cab might be $14. Have a change of clothes since cabbies won't let you in their cab if they think your suit is wet. Go next door to the Holiday Inn and catch a cab back to port instead of waiting for one to show up even if Jolly Pirate calls for one.

More great info! Thanks! It really does make sense.

  4. Since you've got a short window of time, I'd definitely go by taxi. I would contact A1 Taxi Service and see if you can reserve some taxis. I have a timeshare in Aruba and vacation there for several weeks every year. I know many of the drivers with A1. Just explain your situation and let them know how many people are in your group. Their email is a1taxiservices.aruba@hotmail.com

Wow, thank you so much for that information. I would feel much better getting there on time and not worry about the buses and we can always do the buses back to the ship

  5. thanks, So it is doable to get from the cruise ship to the Jolly Pirate by bus in time? We are suppose to dock at 0800 and the Jolly Pirate leaves at 0900. Oh!, is there a time change ? I didn't think of that before.

I just checked, the time is the same as ship time. So, I guess we can try to get there on time. If we get off as soon as we can hopefully we can make it.

  6. The cab fare is per taxi, not per person. I think that the fare is probably a few dollars more than that, but I'm not sure of the price. However, taxis can only take up to 5 passengers, by law. The bus can drop you off close to the Jolly Pirates. Just tell them to drop you off near Holiday Inn.

  7. We are hoping to do the Jolly pirates on our cruise but I have one question. There will be 10 of us and a cab at $11/person is really steep. I heard about buses but wondered how close to the pirate ship do they drop you off.

    any idea?

  8. We did Jolly Pirates last week and loved it. Our group consisted of 4 adults and 8 kids between ages 7 and 17. Everyone loved the excursion. The crew was amazing and the ship was so fun. We loved the snorkeling, dancing, music, lunch and best of all the pirate rope swing. I recommend this tour to everyone! Then after we hung out at their beach bar having drinks.

Did they pick you up at the ship or did you have to find your own transportation?

  9. We're onboard. As we approached Nassau, one engine wasn't working properly so rather than go in on two, the Captain chose to fix it before going in. We basically did a 360 turn outside the port, it was repaired and we were in Nassau on schedule. On another note, on Friday around 6:30 pm we had a Bravo call. Turned out to be a smoking transformer in the Centrum area on deck 8 (circular area of LED lights) and one light fixture was smoking so they called a Bravo. Everyone sprang into action. The transformer never caught fire, but it did smoke and put out a smell. We watched most of it from the Concierge Lounge since they staged near the pool. Within 1/2 hour or so, it was taken care of we were able to get to the 7 pm show. It's our first Bravo in over 20 cruises. Lots of kids onboard (570 or so) and it's noticeable. Issue with 3 days in a row, some kid threw up in the pool and they had to close it causing parents to come into the Solarium, which was not appreciated considering a couple of the moms were downright belligerent with security about it. Because according to one mom "they have to swim". I'm like "have to"? Really? Second night our phone rang several times around 1230 pm and others reported that too. We also missed Coco Cay on Friday, which apparently has happened everytime the last few months. Winds were blowing in toward the island and seas were too rough so we had an extra day at sea.

I also had an interesting encounter in the Solarium. I was walking toward some empty chairs and a woman calls out from the hot tub "excuse me, I was going to sit there". Really, going to? We actually chose different seats due to sun, but I didn't realize we could call dibs. I also had someone in the Quest show last night tell me she was saving about 10 seats. I told her, she can't do that. She didnt' fight me, but someone in front of her who knew her glared at me. Sorry, not sorry.

Also, today, just after the Captain's Corner, Paul (CD) confirmed that Radiance Class WILL fit under the bridge, but at the moment, they are contracted through 2020 and have itineraries into 2019 for Grandeur. No idea what will happen after that since the smaller older ships are being sold as they age.

We've had fabulous weather and seas. It's almost flat right now and was going down also. It sprinkled in Miami during the day and rained about the time we were leaving and that's basically all the rain we've had.

Wow, what a memorable cruise that has become! 570 Kids!!! On that little ship????:eek:

As they say, "a bad day on vacation beats a good day at work" Sometimes you have to have a great imagination to buy that! LOL

  10. When cruise ships dock, Old Town Trolley offers a stop right near Black Falcon. It's a connector trolley that takes you to Faneuil Hall where you can purchase a ticket. I don't think they sell them at the port.

Massport/Black Falcon Cruise Ship Terminal - Stop 18a

11 Drydock Ave, Boston, MA 02210, USA

Exit the cruise terminal, turn left and go to the end of the parking lot; you'll see a white tent there.

Thank you so much for the information. I think that is what we will do

  11. Are you planning to do it on your own or as a ship's tour? The ship's tour is 1 hour 45 minutes with NO hop on hop off option.

I would do it on my own. Can I get tickets at the port? Do they trolleys go to the ship or do we have to walk?
