I'm here for it! What size are the dresses? If you have any shorter ones with they still fit someone who is tall? Like midi dresses?

Also I have a plum colored one size fits all type dress that would fit anyone probably under a size 12 maybe even up to a size 14. It is the type of dress you can wear multiple ways. I am tall and it fits very well but supposedly you can cut it down to size using a scissors. It comes with a bando so you can wear it a little more risque if you like. I chose a very modest approach but there's multiple ways to tie it.

I also have a dress that's a little more casual it's a floral blue dress in size large tall it could be worn for Carnival formal night but probably not for many others. It looks more like a church dress, my husband hates it. He says I look like I'm from Little House on the Prairie when I wear it. So if anyone needs a church dress let me know. Lol.

I am tall, so nothing is short (all knee length or longer and most midi/long). Most of the dresses that I have a formal wear in that they run smaller than regular wear clothing - I am in a 12 misses now (14 formal most of the time), but have dresses that are 14-14w, 16, 16w, and a few 18 misses.  And I will pass on the prairie dress too 😂

How about charging luggage handling fees, like the airlines? According to Forbes magazine, they made $32,000,000,000, yes billion, last year. Only allow carryons, the same size restraints as airlines, to be brought on the ship. Start at $25 for the first bag and $30 for each additional bags, which is less than the airlines do. $$$$$.

Don’t you watch horror movies enough to know that you’re not supposed to “speak its name”??? 😂 You will bring about all kinds of nasty demons that way 👹

Is RC now supporting the Meet & Mingle's again?

How would I contact the staff to see if they will help set up M&M?

Sadly no, not that I have heard. I so wish they would begin the official ones again, roll call participation has dropped so much since the official meet & mingles disappeared. ☹️

  4. Of the years have poked my head in here a few times. I thought it was a wonderful idea to share dresses among women since they can get so expensive and we don’t necessarily wanna wear them more than once or twice. But I have so many clothes now that I really need to pass on to others, as I am sure that others do, and so hope that this forum is still kicking up its hells!

  5. I have two pair, and I love them. I have the square toed flats and the ballerina flats. No, they’re not gonna give you a whole lot of support, that’s a fact, but they look good for a long time and they squished down and don’t get hurt and a suitcase. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

  6. In my experience the best place to get them are on the deep seasonal sales at the end of summer, and at the end of winter, at large department stores like Dillards and Macy’s. But you can also pick up some really amazing deals on eBay if you are super careful (I have gotten some amazing stuff that way), it’s also a place to find very lightly used mother of the brides dresses and prom dresses that will substitute formal dresses

  7. No. I think my parents would both be shocked by this fact, but I actually enjoy dressing up on occasion and we use cruises as those occasions, DH has several tux jackets and often brings one on a cruise (or a jacket/slacks for others). Plus formal dresses aren’t inexpensive, formal night gives me a reason to get extra use from them. Since we each get a free 8 x 10 photo for each cruise, we might as well take advantage of it!

    * I finally learned how to tie a bowtie this year, so I am up for lease for free on a cruise if someone needs help 😂

Thanks for the replies. Definitely sad to hear about the animals at Maya and LFK. I booked us a private day tour with Victor Bodden Tours and will visit their sloth/monkey sanctuary and then head to West Bay Beach.

That is what we will do also our next visit also, the private tour with Bodden. And WarDamnEagle! 🧡💙

    Your post is very confusing.

You quoted a post about LFK ( and Brady’s BFK) and yet you said you went to Maya Key, reached directly from the port? Unless things have changed I am not aware of Royal excursions to LFK (it used to be available via Carnival at one time).

A quick search in advance would have provided images and prepared you for either place. Plenty of reviews, images and videos of both places available.

FWIW, and I don’t know how true it is, it was rumored Maya Key took some of the animals from LFK “to look after” them. A lot of political in-fighting on Roatan. I have never felt the cosy felt by many on this board. It has some natural beauty but I am always wary of visits there.

I was referring to Maya Key and also comparing it to Little French Key. I still think cruise lines should do their own checking and not leave it entirely to passengers. That was a general statement FYI not toward one excursion.

Little French Key has a long history of buying black market animals, animal abuse and environmental destruction.  There maybe threads  from the past here talking about it, there may also be information via Google.  LFK said they were going to clean up their act and find all the animals good homes after a nasty divorce but people going to Big French Key have seen the caged big cats. So, I don't recommend the place to anyone.

Brady's Key has some very nice reviews including snorkeling...and if you like post to one of the Roatan FB groups or Trip Advisor for more information.

It was so sad to see. We don’t do any excursions of animals in captivity if we are aware and with this excursion we felt like we ended up in h@ll. I wish that all the cruise lines would better monitor what they offer to passengers. The conditions are just cruel,

  11. Definitely, not Maya Key - the animals there are not treated well and parts of the beach were honestly disgusting. The positive side is the lunch was very good. We have friends that used to like little French key, but I’ve heard such mixed reviews about it (but have no personal experience there).

I honestly would love to know how this happens.  We have had it happen a couple of times.  Once your email account gets messed up, things go from bad to worse.  I quit trying to get our straightened out.  I haven't gotten an email or snail mail offer from Royal in a very VERY long time.  We just ear our offers onboard and don't worry about the monthlies.

Ditto  - it has been years since I have seen an offer in the mail or through email even though supposedly the email issue has been corrected for me multiple times. I do see offers on the website, but I’m not bothering trying to “fix” anything again because I don’t think it’s truly fixable.

Update !  The crappy 4 and 5 night sailings offer that Dan received turned out to be one of those @#@#@ single person offers.  Utterly useless

    😔

That is what I am getting too. And I just had a significant (in my view) loss on Grandeur for this last week - it never went up from the $ put out, only down 🫨 And I am getting only those “ one complementary guest” offers. Sucks.

Yes there is a parking lot full of Taxi's at Sunset Bar & Grill that will gladly take you either back to the taxi stand or drop you off in town which is what we do and then water taxi back to the port.

All the taxi's are shuttle bus type that easily have fit our group of 6-8.

To piggy back off this, we were just looking at what to do at Saint Maarten next March since we’ve been so many times we’re looking for new things. Any idea how much the taxi is over to Sunset Grill from the cruise port? We thought we might just pop over for lunch.

I am Diamond but my friend who is travelling with me has never sailed RCCL before.. we are sharing a cabin.

I presume she won’t get the free drinks vouchers?

So would I have to go to Lounge on my own to use my vouchers?

This will be my first cruise as Diamond so not sure what the protocol is.

That is correct. She will not get vouchers. However, you can use your vouchers to purchase her drinks if you would like. Or use your vouchers for your drinks and purchase drinks for her. Have fun on your cruise!

How great to see you online, Lynn !

Dan’s WN booking is for August 20th (8-20-23)  (I think).  I asked him if he was sure he wanted to go to the Caribbean in AUGUST but he said he did…so that’s what we’re doing, I guess.  I may sneak around behind him and check on upgrading.  Just not sure I can do an inside room….but this is his comp so I probably should leave it alone.  Ugh.

We will also be on WN 2-2-25 but that’s a LONG way off.

It is always good to see you! We have had a daughter’s wedding, etc., so I have been MIA. I know what you mean about the Caribbean in August, we are actually on Grandeur this August to the Caribbean and I don’t know what I was thinking. 😂  I tried an ocean view one time and I couldn’t deal. I know I couldn’t deal with an interior. I thought the upgrade was reasonable. But in retirement, I may have to figure out how to do an interior!!!

Yes.  I did it a few days ago and in 1 way I regret it and in another, I’m very fortunate that I did it.

Pro:  Dan wanted to sail on Wonder in August.  If I had not booked using the online tool, chances are good that there would have been no rooms available by the time I got around to calling.

Con:  It works very much like a GTY.  There is no way (online) to choose a cabin so they assign you one, much like a GTY reservation.

It seems that all of the comp level rooms are now gone, so we are stuck with the truly crappy location that we got.  Dan has no interest in upgrading his booking, so it is what it is.  Take it or leave it.

They assign you a room, send you a confirmation and then give you 3 days to pay whatever you owe.  We left on a cruise the day after I booked his comp so we were (are) onboard.  We went to NextCruise where the gentleman gave us a phone number to call (via the ships phone) so that we could pay the balance and not lose the booking.

I will not use this method again.  I’m glad Dan got the sailing he wanted but I did not care for the process and won’t use it again.

‘We wanted to upgrade so I had to call. I called the first date was available on the website and after being on hold for an hour was informed that it has suddenly disappeared, and can no longer be booked. I waited two days and luckily was only on hold 10 minutes. We were able to book Wonder for 3/31/24 for a $444 upgrade (given it what is wonder? I was surprised, but definitely satisfied). I do wish RCL would pull it together a bit sooner 😞  Would be great if you booked the same sailing? When do you go?
