  1. Terrorism has hurt the cruise industry and forced lower prices to keep the ships full inadvertantly making cruising available to many who could not have afforded it before. To sustain the lower prices quality (perks) has been sacrificed for quantity (bodies). Cruises are now sold at wholesale prices using the strategy that most passengers will drink, gamble, massage, buy shore excursions, etc. to make up the "retail" price of the cruise. The quality we had, and much more, that are not now avaliable on the mass market lines are still available on Seabourn, Radisson, Crystal - if you have the money.

I dont know if I agree with you on the "terrorism has hurt the industry" but I do agree with everything else you wrote...

  2. I cant believe I read all 27 pages!

My wife and I were on the Celebrity Zenith. We had an outside room with a large window. The Zenith doesn't have balcony rooms. We were docked in Bermuda. Our window was facing out away from the land so we had a great view of the water. We had the Curtains wide open when all of a sudden a Ferry went past our window as we were standing there in all our naked glory. The People on the top of the Ferry were at the same height as our window looking right in at us! They were so close I could see there Eyes getting wider when they realized what they were seeing. My wife and I still laugh about it to this day...

  3. I almost fell off my chair when I saw this topic.

The SS Britanis was my very first cruise. I went from NY to Bermuda back in the 80s. I was such a great trip. I can still remember the staff and how friendly everyone was. The ships sure have changed alot since then. I have to dig out my old photo albums. I remember snapping tons of pictures that trip.
