Right. That's why cruising isn't the only way we travel.
Never said it was.

We cruise for the ports not the ships.
I'm so happy for you, not all cruise for ports.

Another option would be to do a Northbound trip from Vancouver on one cruise line, then do the Southbound on a different cruise line. Then you have the option to stay for a bit in Anchorage and explore in between cruises.
Excellent idea then I can visit Denali National Park

You'll find HAL much different than Cunard. A lot of changes going on there. I'd suggest spending some time on each of those cruise line's forums and reading up on how things are done on them, so you're a bit prepared for that.
I've done a HAL cruise/tour a few years ago. I'm so glad we did it when we did, as the itinerary that we had isn't done any longer.
This is why I choose to do back to back cruise to cover most ports.

Well, then, they aren't really both the same type of cruise. They'll be different experiences. What cruise lines?
Cunard and Holland America

If we returned to Alaska we'd be inclined to do the Alaska State Ferry. The ports we did were so overwhelmed with tourists.
Stay onboard while in port. Then you will have the ship all to yourself.

Well, truth be told, you can't see it all (on a cruise) at all. Even if you do two of them. Cruises just hit the port cities. Not really an overall view of Alaska, at all.
I am also doing a land tour on the second cruise.

Is there a reason you haven't named the cruise lines involved?
No reason, No secret, Cunard and Holland America

I thought you said the itineraries are almost the same. Hey, it's your money, do what you want with it. Have you been to Alaska before? What happens if you find out on your first cruise that once was enough?
Once is never enough when cruising.

I'm sorry, I don't understand this response.
Generally, cruises on two different cruiselines are fine. I don't know for sure what sorts of thoughts your looking for.
I will be in Vancouver anyway, just to get a different perspective of another cruise line, different ports of call, as you know, one can't see it all in one cruise.

Depends on the cruises and itineraries.

Going to Alaska cruise and itinerary practically the same.

I am thinking about doing a back to back Alaska cruise on different cruise lines. What's your thoughts?

There really is no getting around it. We may be strong, kind, honest and sincere, we may say your prayers, we may meditate but nothing can truly stop us from having to encounter bad or rude people. Never stop being a good person because of bad people who are rude and have no manners. Life goes on with or without them.

Why? Since you live in FL have you just done it far enough. I loved it.
When I took the Holland America cruise out of Tampa, it stopped in Key West and the majority of the passengers stayed onboard, too commercialized. Sloppy Joes is a cash grab with terrible food. Too much hype no substance. There is only so much you can say about Hemingway (they got him flogged to death) and the cats and the chickens wondering around the streets then onward to Havana and again Hemingway with mojitos.
-
Definitely "Key West, USA"

I'm curious why you're concerned.

I am thinking about doing a partial World Cruise with Cruise & Maritime Voyages on the Columbus, embarking in Colón (Panama) and disembarking in Auckland, NZ. My concern is flying from Tampa, Florida to Panama City, Panama via Copa Airlines, over night in Panama City and taking a taxi to the ship the next day to Colon. Should I be concerned with respect to safety with Copa Airlines, Hotel in Panama City and Taxi to the ship the next day?

Oh. I am so sorry that you're having such a bad day. Maybe when you've been here a while, it will start getting better. I hope.
I am having a great day, I am just a touch short of fantastic, any better there would be two of me. Who said I was having a bad day? The fairy god mother?

I was looking for more than the dictionary definition. Are you saying that people who don't like children are rude, or are you referring to something else?
What are you talking about, stop reading into sentences. Read the subject "Ever have awful Table mates" that's what I am referring to. Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed in the morning. Oh well.

Could you please define what you mean by being rude?
Offensively impolite or ill-mannered.
-
Who are these rude people? Is there one cruise area more rude than the other? Are they isolated to one cruise line?
-
“It is a wise thing to be polite; consequently, it is a stupid thing to be rude. To make enemies by unnecessary and willful incivility, is just as insane a proceeding as to set your house on fire. For politeness is like a counter--an avowedly false coin, with which it is foolish to be stingy.”

How did you like Vancouver and what did you do there?
Where did you stay pre-cruise in Vancouver. Thank you
What’s the rudest thing you’ve ever had done to you on a cruise?

The rudest thing I encounter is men and women wearing ball caps while eating their meals either in the main dining room or at the buffet.
